Point me in the right direction

While the Quanum looks exactly like a Phantom - realize that it is using an APM flight controller. So for waypoints, this could be the perfect choice. But the learning curve will be steeper than a Phantom which employes a fairly simple setup FC. Plenty of help to be had here on the forum, so...

    KDE XF esc's

The manual shows 1.1 on all settings. I think it has become common to consider the "default" for height to be .9 (or thereabouts).

For Broadcast video issues with Inspire 1 footage

After posting that last night I searched my bookmarks and the forum and could not find the original thread. BUT, I did find the resource that the discussion had linked to - which may (or not) be more beneficial than the original thread anyway - which IIRC, devolved into bickering and became...

For Broadcast video issues with Inspire 1 footage

Based on those posts, it sounds like this is an AVID issue. Have you tried looking at the footage imported to another editor? FCP or Premiere? What setting did you film in on the Inspire camera? There may be some tricks fkr converting the file to a PSF that the client wants on their end - a...

Point me in the right direction

First, welcome to Multirotorforums.com. I think the variables you want to get specific about for your needs are A) whether there will be obstacles between you and the downfield targets and B) how long will you have to linger at the location(s) once you get there (so total time per flight). FPV...

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like you have a hell of a pedigree for building great multirotors. Have fun and fly safe!

Taming down a 250 mini quad

You may be able to adjust it on the FC to get what you're looking for - but the radio is an option as well. Worth giving a shot to see if it can get it to where you're happy. If not - you can get into the PIDs in the CC3D.

Yes, its another Tarot 680 PRO build

Do you mean keep the booms the same length and just clamp less boom by moving the motor mount? If so, I'm not sure that would be the best idea.

    KDE XF esc's

He's using the SuperX. I (and several other owners) have had issues with the SuperX not always playing nice with the OPTO ESCs. If a motor or two doesn't recognize the ESC - leaving it in the state where it beeps slowly (and may twitch a bit), recycle the power. Typically this does the trick -...

    KDE XF esc's

I don't think you need to bother since it's not sending power through there like non-OPTO ESCs.

Taming down a 250 mini quad

If your radio supports it and has enough switches, you could set up some dual rates and expo to mellow out the stick controls for flying while filming. You would basically have one set of controls set up for your typical FPV racing radio response, another for the more mellow, filming response.

    Gimbal Question

I would do some research on the older H3-3D gimbal from DJI. They implemented an FPV feature that I believe locked the camera - but it may have only had this option on the Phantom??? Otherwise, you may be best served by a servo driven gimbal.

How do I tell my altitude?

You would still need an OSD for getting the info from the FC. So check out the iOSD mini. That would probably be the easiest/cheapest solution for the DJI FCs. And it seems in order to do that, you may need a PMU to have access to a CANBUS port.

How do I tell my altitude?

As I am sure you know, the predators are only goggles. Even if it is a package coming with a transmitter/antenna etc, then you would still need to plug in the Naza Lite to an OSD unit, and then connect/combine that with your video stream to see the data on the ground. I think it would be best...

How do I tell my altitude?

Depending on the transmitter you use, some have telemetry options that will tell you altitude. I know Taranis does, and I believe Futaba may have a module as well.

    MayDay Autonomous parachute deployment device

Just saw an interesting new product called MayDay, designed to deploy countermeasures if/when something goes wrong with our multirotors. Looks like this kickstarter campaign has developed an autonomous device to deploy parachutes, or trigger a wide range of servo-based options, in the event of...

    44 old kid :D

That's awesom. I've got a nice old 9B that I love. It's waiting for me up in Vermont to be brought down to the new shop. I can't wait, I'm feeling naked without it :)
