    Monitor instead of goggles?

Let us know how they work out. I looked up the ones @Bartman uses, and it seems you can find them - but the older batteries can be an issue of the set has been sitting in an unopened box (not surprising).

What's better... smaller & more or larger but fewer lipos?

I've always erred on the side of caution with the AWG, but good to hear that you saw improvement in an actual application. Thanks folks.

CANNOT get this brushless gimbal to work correctly.

Ah. Always a sure path to frustration! :). Don't sweat it - happens to everyone at some point. Just glad you're on the right track now. Tuning these things to be "perfect" can be tough, but it definitely helps to have the IMU working correctly!

What's better... smaller & more or larger but fewer lipos?

Good to know. I like the idea of survivability - I think I'll stick with that :)

    Monitor instead of goggles?

Seems like it's not released until the fall. I like the idea though - since I really only use a monitor for lining up a shot.

What's better... smaller & more or larger but fewer lipos?

Are you guys running 2 separate leads to the PDB when you run 2 batteries? When I first set up for dual batteries I had soldered up a Y-squid. Then I realized that this could be a bottleneck (2 batteries funneling into a single wire pair). Ever since then, I've run 2 different pairs/leads to...

    Monitor instead of goggles?

@jfro just sent me this link to wearable monitor. It's like the modern day, high tech version of the monopoly guy! :) http://vufine.com

    Drone Drones

Yep, I didn't even get into languages other than English. For English at least, UAV and quadcopter come up as the most frequent alternate keywords if drone is typed into the search. This is obviously Google only, but it should be a decent representation of what's going on out there. While...

    Drone Drones

I just did a quick comparative search using Google AdWords account I have for the moto web site. The keyword multirotor shoots back several thousand monthly searches, the term drone comes back with aprox 1.5 million searches :( UAV appears to be better than multirotor, but not by a ton. Add...

HobbyKing goes "Pro" with the DYS D800 X8 HL Copter.

While I can understand the frustration you must feel as a retailer trying to compete with the low prices of knock-offs, I think the "reason to go with Copy King..." would likely be price. Also, this is not a hobby king branded product, but rather a Dys product - who has made some decent stuff in...

Connecting camera to phone thru wi-fi

There are some cheap DVRs that HK sells (and some others from Chinese distributors). I have had no luck with them - but maybe I got a bad batch? I bought it because some people I know had great luck with them. Just records standard def - but my FPV camera is SD anyway. Luck of the draw :)

Connecting camera to phone thru wi-fi

2.4 is one of the frequencies that wifi operates on. There have mentions of the wifi from gopros causing issues.

Studying Whale Health with a Hexacopter

I wonder if they have a special setup to use in the frigid temps? Most of the commercially available FCs have a lower limit to the temperatures they work at. I think that area they're headed to only gets above 0c for one month a year. Sorta like Vermont :)

    Drone Drones

The report said 2,000-3,000 feet! I can't imagine flying that high, let alone deciding to do it in an airport flight path!!!!

    Drone Drones

Agreed. It's tough to fight against the wave of "drone" stories hitting the airwaves. Another report of commercial airline pilots spotting drones 8 miles out at Newark Airport. Ugh!!! Drone drones.
