Taming down a 250 mini quad

I have one of the knock off QAV 250 mini quads from hobby king. Love flying it as its an absolute blast. I have FPV gear for it but I have never done any FPV flying. At the moment I have 3 flight modes. stabilized 1, stabilized 2, and rates mode which has no stabilization. I would like to set up stabilized 1 mode to be extremely docile I guess you could say similar a camera platform quad. I want to do this for multiple reasons.
1 so I can learn to fly it with the FPV gear on it.
2 So I can get some aerial footage at my club as its the only choice I have to do aerial footage.

I guess another piece of info needed is it is running the CC3D flight controller.

If your radio supports it and has enough switches, you could set up some dual rates and expo to mellow out the stick controls for flying while filming.

You would basically have one set of controls set up for your typical FPV racing radio response, another for the more mellow, filming response.

Chris,

Did you set up the three flight modes or were they already configured when you bought the kit?

I'm not sure what you mean by this, are you unsure if your quad has a CC3D controller in it?

Yes I set it up per the videos I watched for 3 flight modes and yes it has a CC3D controller it. Sorry didn't mean to phrase it like I was unsure.

Running a Futaba 8J so it has switches. Maybe I will do that just dial the rates way back on flight mode 1. Had not even thought of that, and was thinking I needed to play with the programming on the flight controller.

You may be able to adjust it on the FC to get what you're looking for - but the radio is an option as well. Worth giving a shot to see if it can get it to where you're happy. If not - you can get into the PIDs in the CC3D.
