FREEFLY Systems Freefly ALTA, RTF collapsible hexacopter

I can appreciate the RTF in the testing that it hopefully gets with component compatibility (think its safe to say this "testing" is not done to the same standards though). The variables are still going to exist though, as long as people have different needs and preferences. My 'perfect quality...

FREEFLY Systems Freefly ALTA, RTF collapsible hexacopter

I don't think there is any reason to be sad. People and companies are going to continue to make products for the DIY crowd. If for no other reason than many can't afford the $8k that it requires to get into a rig like this.

    Brendan Schulman

Wow. Big news. Maybe he can make some inroads into convincing them that with profits, should come better customer service and support. Couldn't hurt his efforts to dispel concerns for the safety of these products... :)

multiwii pro flight controllers, are there any fakes floating around by chance

The EZ connections make it easy to hook up and get rolling. One thing about RTFQ, if you think you want to order - place it a month in advance. He can be a bit slow. I've gotten things quickly from him - but rarely :)

FREEFLY Systems Freefly ALTA, RTF collapsible hexacopter

It seems to me that there will always be a certain market for the DIY builders and manufacturers, and like the RTF market, it will span from hobby to professional. With the high quality that is being produced for DIY frames alone - there will likely be pros that prefer to tailor their craft to...

One prop, two chunks of GPS mast so far!

This is what scares me, the info available is scattered and hard to find. After many flights with the SuperX I have yet to have a flyaway. And considering that Crayfellow's experience is about as close to the definition of flyaway as I would like to get, I'd say that it's safe to assume all...

One prop, two chunks of GPS mast so far!

I don't think anyone is suggesting that way-points is a substitute for piloting skills. In the case of Crayfellow, I think it allows him a more precise movement for survey, regardless of how far away the craft travels from the pilot. But for me, since i have no need to way-points, it's nice to...

One prop, two chunks of GPS mast so far!

I have been thinking the same thing - at least for a heavy/expensive lifter. For my confidence level, a valuable camera ship is not a pixhawk "get to know ya'" type craft :) I messed with an APM 2.6 for a review and found it to be too big of a learning curve to make it a timely review. Swapped...

    CF prop options

Agreed. It is a nasty *****. Holding your breath doesn't really work- so best to avoid the sanding if possible. But it does make quick work of it. Fortunately, I have had good luck with tape staying put.

Thanks for the update! Agreed, after a couple blades, a groove kicks in...but before that, it's a bit painful. :)

One prop, two chunks of GPS mast so far!

Agreed. And unless the full bottle of water was exactly the weight of the gimbal/camera - sloshing is going to cause some issues. The old hard drive idea is rock solid too and will not move. Modular to match weights :)

Sorry. Got confused there as well. Try to make sure the water isnt moving/sloshing when you do the auto tune, that would likely throw it off.

I assumed that you still had the weight on. I dont think that it's the best idea to rip around without the wight the craft was designed for. I know it's possible - but knowing the thought and care you put into the design of the power system - you are definitely not going to be near 50% throttle...

One prop, two chunks of GPS mast so far!

No. Definitely no kids! :) Tie downs are a good way to go if you're on your own. Doesn't seem like it was related. The GPS mast should be rock solid - make sure you rule that out as a suspect. Regardless, if you lowered the throttle to zero then it should have reacted and come down - and...

One prop, two chunks of GPS mast so far!

That seems damn scary. One suggestion unrelated to the Loiter issue: if you are testing the pitch and roll etc while in the air - meaning you're not 100% confident in the setup, it may be best to have someone hold it above their head for you while you gently run through all the stick commands...

Glad you found it. It's good to be able to do all that you need on the radio - for being at the field. But in my experience, using the computer is what makes the taranis a step above the rest. Good luck!

One prop, two chunks of GPS mast so far!

In the computer you do it under the "limits" tab. It will not effect anything else for the model - and you would only be changing the values for the throttle. On the taranis itself, it's the servos page. The default is -100, +100. The center is default to 1500. You can change it there, and...
