It just bit me :) Learned again to take the props off !

Wow. This sucks. As a NAZA user, I am going to change my behavior. I never take props off when upgrading. Usually the upgrade is out in the field with the laptop, and I'm doing it over and over as I tune the gains. It'll be a big big pain in the *** and will make tuning take a lot longer than...

Where do you guys buy prop spacers?

Further discussion Consider adding your location to your profile. If you're in Europe (or are just patient), electricwingman carries the same spacers. I also like kloner's suggestion - simpler is often better.

I'm new to prop adapters. How do you know the output diameter?

Turns out everyone in the US is out of the prop spacer at the moment, v-east included. Hmm, interesting. You did the Steel-Backed PTFE-Coated Bronze? I actually ordered some of those M5 ID spaces, figured I'd center-drill out the hole. Maybe I'll get some of these bearings too. 2 bearings...

I'm new to prop adapters. How do you know the output diameter?

I think Quadrocopter are in Montana. Anyway, they're out of stock right now! Shucks. Looks like all McMaster has right now for metric spacers with 8mm OD --> M5 is the biggest hole. http://www.mcmaster.com/#unthreaded-spacers/=hqv2iy Edit: Just checked my prop stock and it's a little lower...

I'm new to prop adapters. How do you know the output diameter?

Just ordered a set of Suppo 2814 motors that come with a 4mm nominal prop adapter to fit the 4mm motor shaft. So what's the OD on that adapter? 5mm or 6mm? I'm using Graupner 10 x 5 E-props. The Graupner site sells aluminum spacers but I may try and find something comparable at McMaster / the...

So that's what that is! I thought I might have been hearing things. Something to look out for.

    New F450

My first flight ever, first time firing it up I had the DJI props on. They exploded as soon as the motors got up to speed. I spoke with their staff and it sounds like theyre trying to figure out why there are duds sometimes, but that was enough for me. But hey, they're cheap! Whatever works.

    New F450

Nice! I like your mounting plate. Not to be a downer, but is this your first RC copter? I personally would feel very uncomfortable flying that close to people. These things will seriously cut you - if you want to look at some graphic photos for motivation, check out this thread. I try to...

Panasonic GH2 general and hack info base

There needs to be a Multirotor wiki. It's just a much more flexible, efficient data structure.

Naza all of the sudden flipping over. firmware?

Has happened to me a few times, and I don't know why. Probably is my fault somehow - it usually is. If it keeps flipping, don't try and force it up into the air to see if it levels. I did this once, and it just ended up doing a line drive fast as can be, then into the ground.

What is a good way to go into Heavy Lifters w/o spending thousands?

You can carry a Nex-5n with an f450. Not with a gimbal, though.

Prop washers; glue to prop for balancing?

On my f450 I've been using nylon washers to make up for the shorter hubs used on 10" APC's and Graupners. The inner diameter of the washer is bigger than the 8mm hub, so they're a little loose and the like to to sit under the nut not-quite-centered. I was thinking recently about how little...

    Failsafe

What do you mean? Dark brown wire on top. Don't be afraid to try stuff. Just do it outside and stand a good deal back -- I'm not kidding about this. Treat these things like flying saws. Also, as a general tip, when you're trying something new out, stay less than 5 feet off the ground the first...

I did just that and it works fine. Like the other poster said, just don't clip down to the leads.

Another cool way to balance motors: laser pointer and mirror. Maybe a good option for people without an iphone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnjflLDxQQU

    Cheaper alternative for PhotoHigher gimbal?

At the moment I'm still flying with a point and shoot hard-mounted. Could work for you, depending on what you want to do. That LCC page looks familiar, I wonder if anyone around here has used one... I'm flying with a DJI f450, and maybe someday I will have the cash / good reason to do a big-rig.
