Tau Labs Open Pilot mention on Engadget.com

I'm sure most of you have seen the story about the Bat Copter in Texas that is using the CC board. Engadget just ran their own version of the story. I'm baffled why they used the video they did, but it's still cool to see them mention Open Pilot...

    New Flickr feed

Hey guys, I've been pretty busy lately and haven't been on here much, but I did get a little time last weekend to take some new pics and start a new Flickr feed. I wanted to share it with you lot here. Some old ones mixed in with the new stuff. More to come soon...

    Tau Labs Missing attitude calibration

So any idea why I can not get the attitude calibration page to show up in GCS now? I know I've seen it before, but now I just see a page telling me that this will be updated depending on which board is detected? Last thing I have to tune, but it needs it bad. I can see it out of level in the...

    Tau Labs Prop directions

So I have a simple question. In my GCS when I select tricopter I see prop rotations of ccw, cw & ccw for motors 1,2, 3. I have mine set up cw, ccw & ccw. In theory it seems like it shouldn't matter, but I want to confirm here just in case. Anyone know?

    Tau Labs RX wiring harnes

So my CC showed up today. I've been able to get it installed & firmware loaded and have worked my way through some of the configuration, but I'm hitting a stumbling block and I'm hoping someone can help me diagnose the problem. For some reason after I run the rc input calibration and then...

    Aerial Paintings

Hey Guys, I just wanted to share a project with you all that I have finally completed testing on. Some of you may have seen the aerial photography that I had printed to oversize stretched canvas. The entire idea there was to find compelling shots taken with a gopro on my tricopter...

    Aerial Photo Stitching

Has anyone heard about this yet? There is a company called http://pix4d.com/ that gives users the ability to stitch together 100's of aerial photos to form 3d maps of locations. This could be a game changer for some people out there. Engadget just ran a story on it the other day...

    Tau Labs Installing GCS

So, has anyone here tried to get GCS set up yet in anticipation of your board arriving? Maybe we should post up some tips or bullet points here for those about to take the plunge? At least a clip from the wiki I would say. I'm hoping to try it out this weekend if I can find the time...

    Tau Labs Upcoming features

So should we expect to see additional features being added to the software that include navigation? I was thinking "Return to Home" & "Position/Altitude Hold" would be nice. Is this something that would come in the form of a software update to the current hardware?

    Lumix GF2

Anyone using this camera? Thoughts or opinions? I was thinking it might be nice to serve dual roles as both an AP cam & point & shoot for pics around town.

    Mikrokopter MK in Endgadget

So has anyone else seen this article today on Endgadet? I guess they are using MK hexa's to help count crops on the west coast of the US. http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/09/six-rotor-drone-counts-trees-not-kills/

    48 Hour Film Project

Hey Guys, I just wanted to share an offer that was recently extended to me and ask some advise. I have a good friend that has assembled a team to work on a contest in Washington DC. It's called the 48 Hour Film Contest. The short description is that they take teams of film makers around...

Hey everyone, I wanted to ask for some recommendations for a new camera. Here is what I'm looking for... As my fiance and I prepare to take our honeymoon in June we realized that our point and shoot is finally dead and needs to be replaced. I'd love to be able to find something that I...

    Audio or not?

I was just wondering what you lot do for audio in your FPV set ups. Do you have a mic on board, or just pass it all together? If so, which one? Curious. Thanks!

    Indoor FPV

So I got to try something fun this weekend... indoor FPV with my tricopter. My fiance is an Art teacher and I got access to the gym this weekend. I was the only one there and ran a few batteries trimming and tuning the copter, then ran a couple with the goggles on. I was pretty scared to hit...

    Sony NEX-5

Anyone have one of these guys? I'm thinking of picking one up, but would love to hear your thoughts on it first if you have one. I'm drawn towards this camera for two reasons... 1. I actually need a new camera to take on our upcoming honeymoon. Our current point and shoot bit the dust...

    Contour GPS action cam

Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with the Contour GPS cam. It's a small action cam much like the GoPro, but it has a few extra bells & whistles. For starters, it logs GPS data along with video so that you can actually view location on a map while playing back...

    Learning FPV

Hey everyone, I just started to fly FPV with my 'Creep' tricopter a few weeks back and have about a dozen batteries of flight time so far. Below is a video that I wanted to share of my second time out. It's a little erratic, but this was the first flight on the new airframe and I was trying...
