    R&D Hex for Survey/Imaging/Conservation

Is your angle aluminum 1/8" thick and 3/4" on a side? Also did you use standard grommets (like maybe 3/8" from a hardware store) or order metric grommets made for 12mm tube (if so, what size?) Thanks!

QuadFrame motor mounts and (KDE) 42mm motors

Yeah. But that's essentially similar to the QuadFrame mounts, which also clamp directly to the booms, not off the end. You're right I do need to check the clearance; I was assuming since this is generally intended for 25mm booms the associated clamps should take that into account. If not I can...

QuadFrame motor mounts and (KDE) 42mm motors

I think the nuts are for screws coming in "upside down" from the bottom through the clamps.

QuadFrame motor mounts and (KDE) 42mm motors

Hi there, Can anyone recommend a motor mount compatible with 25mm carbon fiber tube? I was attempting to use the QuadFrame mounts which look like this: The center hole on the QuadFrame mounts appears to be 9.5mm in diameter, but the retainer on the bottom of the KDE motors I am using...

    R&D Hex for Survey/Imaging/Conservation

thank you - Patrick (KDE) suggested just making the hole 1mm bigger too. Happy to know I'm not crazy (at least with respect to this topic)!

    R&D Hex for Survey/Imaging/Conservation

I'm sure I'm doing something completely wrong with the motor mounts. The QuadFrame mounts look like this: The center hole has to allow for a retainer on the bottom of the motor shaft which is in place via set screws: 4 motors in, I noticed the motors do not spin freely due to binding on the...

Quadframe Foldable Pro SIXcopter - medium lift need

Cool, thanks. Do you use one of those generic HDMI-to-AV boards like this, then just take the signal from the RCA? Are you using a video switch like this to run your nex and a flight camera through the same vtx? It looks like 3x gimbal motors can draw up to 7A altogether so I had shied away...

Quadframe Foldable Pro SIXcopter - medium lift need

Sorry if I missed this in the thread: what are you using for vtx (that is a separate flight camera, right?) and for powering the gimbal?

InfinityMR Universal high performance gimbal for GH4/A7S size cameras

Received my InfinityMR (alexmos with encoders) over a week ago, thanks @jakuban! It is easy to see from the images that this piece of equipment has been carefully designed and well made. Working with one here shows that this truly is the case. These sorts of things are not cheap of course, but...

    Searching for decent 3S 1800mAh

yeah - and I'm probably way off in my time estimations. It was probably something more like 5-7min originally and now down to 1-3 before I get a cell voltage warning on my tx. You're right, I was not analytical with this rig. Who knows, a lighter 1300mAh is probably equivalent and that is why...

Advice for BEC / wiring from experienced AP/AV folk

thanks for the LED recommendation! the motivation for looking at >12V for the gimbal was Jakub's recommendation to me via email. "I suggest using 4s lipo (16V). Motors used in the gimbal can work with 3-4s but in my opinion 4s is better." But the 5V/12V could come from a little PDB which would...

    Searching for decent 3S 1800mAh

hey all, I'm using a 250 to learn to fly [insane, I know] and it has been a blast. Initially I bought a pair of Lumenier 3S 1800mAh batts. As you can imagine, I've had some serious crashes. One of the batts is already out of commission since showing damage. The other has torn cover plastic but...

Quadframe Foldable Pro SIXcopter - medium lift need

looks and sounds awesome!! I will try to do the same once I am through testing on simple 16" props. Foldable is an added bonus, and with 'fancy' props you're spending a lot anyway so this is sure a nice way to go. Do they fold compactly enough for your arms to fold as tightly as they go?

HK Multistar high capacity, 10C batteries made for MR: Opinions from the experienced?

Nice!! The MS 10Ah are available from the US warehouse now, so I might as well grab a couple of those as the initial test batts, no? I realize I'll not get close to your flight time but it will be a fun adventure to see how close I can get with 16x5.5 props.

HK Multistar high capacity, 10C batteries made for MR: Opinions from the experienced?

but you have to travel with your stuff to the home base where you prepare for the canoe/truck/boat trip, right? So you travel with the Dell PS? I agree on the 1C. Why not just use one higher-watt charger? Couldn't you use a single 306B or PL6 with a ParaBoard to charge 4 of your 6S 8Ah at 1C...

HK Multistar high capacity, 10C batteries made for MR: Opinions from the experienced?

Right, but your camera is the only real significant difference. My craft is really a prototype and test rig so I wanted absolute maximum stability and not be limited in payload for now. You and I both may end up with those foldable 540's long-term. Having a big heavy-ish lift craft in the fleet...

HK Multistar high capacity, 10C batteries made for MR: Opinions from the experienced?

Trust me, I'm cheap too. I drive a wholly owned VW Golf diesel with 130k+ on the odometer (except for when hauling the whole family). But I also own a Fluke meter :) I'm always looking for the balance between cost, minimal maintenance, maximum reliability and flexibility, and reasonable travel...

HK Multistar high capacity, 10C batteries made for MR: Opinions from the experienced?

How so? It seems like it's right in the "mid-lift", between lightweight gimbal+GoPro and big heavy lift DSLR/RED type octo. Equipment wise it seems pretty typical to me. Do you mean the addition of an FPV flight camera? Eliminating a dedicated 4S batt for the gimbal seems to balance a bit too...

HK Multistar high capacity, 10C batteries made for MR: Opinions from the experienced?

@Mactadpole what charger and PS are you using with these? What do you think of using 2x 10Ah Multistar as opposed to the 8Ah? Only slightly more weight (1189g vs. 956g for the 8Ah). I was playing with the numbers since I could compare one-for-one with the $250 Tattu 10Ah.

New 540 Class Folding Quad Frame

I do wonder how an off-the-shelf unit would even do this, since 3DR uses their own transmitter with custom hardware and what appears to be a custom 2.4GHz protocol for both control and the video feed.
