QuadFrame motor mounts and (KDE) 42mm motors

Alright fellas - this one is resolved. I tried the QuadFrame V2 mount and they turned out to be identical to the ones from my foldable pro sixcopter kit, minus the slots for ESC mounting tie wraps. Same hole. So I'll set those guys aside for another project, I suppose. Today I received the...

    Flite Brothers Tick Quad

that camera/vtx is a heck of a deal isn't it! I've got the wider angle one on a Pixhawk rover for fun. I saw the tick on the FT forum - really neat! Here in Minnesota we find many of the organic type up in the woods. I'm about to start on an Electrohub tricopter (also Pixhawk) with my kids as...

    My Mini Quad Build

Fun! Lots to say here, but first I would suggest you think about some sort of lost model beacon, buzzer, just something to help you find it in the event of an accidental loss. Where/how do you intend to fly? Also look at US-based sources as much as possible although HobbyKing is prompt if you...

    Charger question - Max current

You can't get "more current" by changing the way you wire things. A given supply will be rated for a given current. People wire batteries in parallel on big copters to get more capacity for the same voltage; think of it as a bigger gas tank, not a bigger pipe. What you are wanting to increase...

    Do I need a BEC?

many people use a dedicated BEC with Pixhawk because they are running larger voltage and/or current than the standard power module can withstand. This requires replacing the standard 4S max voltage / 90A max current Pixhawk power module with an attopilot voltage/current meter. @Jim Schultz...

How in the world do you fly FPV??

Here is a post on reddit that describes pretty much my exact situation.

How in the world do you fly FPV??

when our poor 250 was a distant point of starlight in the distant sky, it was still in range per Taranis RSSI. The deep panic set in when I got a low cell voltage warning and low signal simultaneously, while struggling to bring it back. I had the X8R PCB antennae tie wrapped to the underside of...

How in the world do you fly FPV??

I see people use Marco Polo too. It would be nice instead of the separate handheld unit to just have a transponder on the craft, then a 900MHz to Bluetooth LE bridging device so you could use a smartphone as the UI. Maybe I will talk to them about developing an idea like that together.

    Charger question - Max current

Cool. I have a PL6 and this 1200W power supply. I am an EE and work with electronics for a living, so I have lots of opportunities to tinker. Having an extra PS with adjustable voltage is always useful for me, I've already used it for a purpose other than powering the charger :) And, like you...

How in the world do you fly FPV??

so, after that horrible experience, I've been thinking about how to prevent that from ever happening again. I am compiling a list of loss-avoidance measures that I hope will be useful to others as well. I had prepared for lots of scenarios, had battery telemetry with Taranis voice warnings, all...

@Jussi what did you end up deciding on?

    'occasions' is plural :(

How in the world do you fly FPV??

yeah. Since we have a big family (4 kids) we are usually around home. This happened right down the street. All I can think is that the wind was extremely strong way up there, so once I got sufficiently high it got pushed that way fast. Then turning back and pitching forward either wasn't enough...

InfinityMR Universal high performance gimbal for GH4/A7S size cameras

Not yet, work has been crazy. And now that I lost my 250 last night I will be a bit more skittish than usual putting several orders of magnitude invested in the sky :) (mostly kidding, except for the loss; I'm getting close on the build so maybe over the next week or so)

InfinityMR Universal high performance gimbal for GH4/A7S size cameras

As I said, I've not contributed to gimbal controllers specifically, but have worked on many similar technologies including commercial air data computers and GPS/navigation systems which are spectacularly complex. But certainly, yes, these things are not simple. Cheers.

How in the world do you fly FPV??

well, tonight I entered into the ranks of those who have lost craft. Our "little flier" was a pinpoint of light in the sky and I could see the light twinkle when I would pitch it toward me, but something, wind, distance, sheer altitude, or whatever, prevented me from navigating it back. I went...
