    X8 Build - First Timer

You can get away with 2 bolts for the motors - but I have always preferred 4. Never hurts to be MORE secure :) If need be, buy some bolts at the local hardware to augment what you received. Just make sure they are the proper length so you don't accidentally damage the windings inside the motor.

    Flying after an underwater 'landing'

Those pics are amazing!!! Is this a potential for new ways to search for Nessy??? :) As @Vermiform said, keep an eye on that motor - as well as all the others. I would suggest running a good bit on the bench (sans props) to see if any other components show signs of algae fatigue. Good work...

    HELP! Strange Acceleration Jitters

Well, not mentioning the submarine routine you tried probably led us down the wrong path :) If you have dried it out and seen improvement - keep at it I guess. Rice always seemed to absorb moisture in these situations. If you had noticed a motor shaft bent (likely in a crash) then I'd try to...

    Video Tx and Rx suggestions

It really depends on what you define as "long distance." For basic LOS flying and framing shots, the 5.8 immersionRC uno has been good for me with their VTX and a readymaderc monitor. I upgraded to the cloverleaf style antenna. If you want long distance - or to be able to have video with...

You definitely want your radio to be in the airplane mode for setup - it translates more accurately for our MRs (even though heli seems like it would). I think that "manual" mode may be called Acro in APM. It definitely was in Multiwii. There is a basic description of the flight modes on the...

    HELP! Strange Acceleration Jitters

+1. Always good to start with a good, known baseline.

Nice! Looking forward to seeing these plates turned into a competitive racer!

InfinityMR Universal high performance gimbal for GH4/A7S size cameras

Looks interesting. Do you have any shots of alternate angles? Hard to see how the dampening is working.

What did you do in your workshop last night?

The advantage would be a single drive line for the Y axis - as opposed to the typical dual-side drive for most gantry machines. 1 less drive assembly (acme screw, stepper, beatings etc) kept the cost down - and for the purposes of working on modest sized plates - no need really for the...

    Hello!

Welcome to Multirotorforums.com Stephan! You have come to the right place if you'll be looking for help - or just some subtle encouragement. Plenty of knowledgable folks around here always willing to lend a hand. I look forward to hearing how you make out with the tricopter. I've never build...

Gimbals & Encoders 2nd half 2015 Have we Arrived?

Definitely always seems slow when you're waiting impatiently :) Looks like Jakub will have a smaller Infinity coming in September - and the H3 is supposedly shipping soon. Greasy is also at work on a way to tie their controller into the canbus for connection to DJI FCs - which could add the GPS...

Glad you got the computer connection sorted! Often it's the simple things....hopefully! :) If the throttle is only kicking in at 50% - that may be a feature many FCs have which is considered "auto lift-off," where it waits for mid-throttle to pop it off the ground all at once instead of...

What did you do in your workshop last night?

I built the machine from individual parts based on a "bundle" called the Plate Machine, put together by the guy over at OpenBuilds parts store. Because of the smaller size and design, it's quite a bit cheaper than some of the bigger Gantry style routers/mills (shapeoko, Ox etc). OpenBuilds are...

    HELP! Strange Acceleration Jitters

Of course! That's what we are here for :) Couple more quick questions: does it do it if you throttle up but move away at the same time - so that you're not moving directly up (in its own prop wash)? Does it do it if you are higher in the air? Say from 30 feet to 40 feet instead of lower to...

Spy Shots: Heli Max - The Voltage 500!

@Bartman and I met that pilot at the Hobbico tent at the RC Plane feat in upstate NY! :)

Welcome to the forum! What type of computer are you using? Which OS? Do you have the proper drivers required for connection? The flight controller is based on APM. Do you have mission planner installed?

HobbyKing goes "Pro" with the DYS D800 X8 HL Copter.

I entertained this idea before deciding to freshen up my Vulcan parts like @SleepyC did. The drawback that I saw, aside from the lack of parts supply, was that it is not available in frame only form. I already own my motors/ESCs - and would like to continue using them.

Not exactly Multirotor related YET, but I plan on making some MR and gimbal plates with this bad boy very soon....

    HELP! Strange Acceleration Jitters

I would say that perhaps the ESCs were not working well together, but if it doesn't happen in Manual mode, I think that rules that out. Was there anything that happened that preceded this happening? Crash? Off calibration? Etc?
