DJI S800 Product Bulletin - ESC too high temperature

...I doubt I get a $ 100...value of DJI products is dropping by every minute...

Sorry, I know my statements don't conribute in a productive way to this problems....but it helps to cope with the frustration for being treated like a stupid schoolboy from this company...
It's better version of foxtech's 500mw 5.8ghz transmitter which sells at $107, you will need this Tx if you own their gimbal for video donwlink.

I never have owned a Zenblues nor will I ever own a Zenblues gimbal....giving them any more money would be the same like having "I AM AN IDIOT" tatooed on my forehead....regardless what the hype is about this gimbal. I am not a donkey running behind a carrot beeing held in front of my face.....

Hi David , We are dealing with Uk for esc replacements so you are very welcome to send them to us to fit for you .
Same applies to any other UK owner of the S800 we are happy to help out here all we can with any issues even if bought from another dealer.

Geoff

I have just sent an email to DJI copying the repair dealer in Switzerland on these 'issues' requesting more detail...
1) Are the ESCs being replaced or repaired (who makes the decision to do what)

2) My MC was ordered by me via a UK dealer before 30/08/2011 suggesting that it was built before January 2012 and therefore should be replaced

Or have i just read a load of mis-information ?

Hello

Last week I sent you 3 emails in order to get a quote from you for merchandise in the value of app. € 4.600,--....I NEVER received an answer from you, so today I made another distributor happy with my order. I just wonder how you want to deal with the DJI mess which obviously requires some sort of logistical talent if you are not even capable of picking the business up right in front of your face....?

This all makes me so angry .....and please keep your apologies for some noob

Chris , we have received no emails from you that we are aware of , What is your email and I will check this .
We do occasionally get some emails deleted as spam , you can always send a Pm on here or call the office number if you need to reach us.
However your post have no relevance to this thread as this is about the S800 and not about logistical talent as you point out .
There is also a Quadcopters.co.uk section in this forum where you can ask questions etc .

Bulletin quote
"We are in the process of a voluntary replacement of WKM MC manufactured before January 31 to all S-800 owners."

I did not buy a S-800 but I bought a WKM, end of december 2011.
Used on an octa, ESCs mounted under each motor.

- Where does that leave me in this??
:upset:

I think I may have missed something here: Is there really an issue with WK-M FC being used with S800 if the WKM is an earlier model? I have a WKM that is probably one of the original ones (seems to work perfectly well on my quad) but I am planning on using it with my new S800... just as soon as my arms come back after being fitted with the new ESC's. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Finally...more info. The old batch versus new batch of wookong-m applies to ALL wookongs, not just those for the S800. Sidney stated they will be replacing all old wkm's for S800 owners first, then the rest of the human race that has the old batch.

Looks like everyone needs to get their testers out.

just taking out the ESCs and hoping for replacements these days to get the bird back up in the air. I am a little worried though how close together these PPM and Power leads are considering that the Arms are not really vibes free. Are you guys isolating them in some way ?

I don't like silicon or liquid tape when it comes to small areas its really hard to tell how thick the layers are etc.

hmm don't get it were are they isolated ? They are blank wires coming out of the arm being crossed over each other etc. And its surely no problem to solder them on so they don't touch each other but it dosent give me a good feeling to have blank non isolated wires close or less than a couple mm to each other ?

I made the same mistake in another thread. Look closer. They are insulated. the tips aren't just silver from solder that's the actual wire. The copper color is a coating.

If you are thinking about doing the S800 esc mod yourself. Here is a video that I did that shows how to do it.

I would recommend that most people just take the esc's out of the arm and send them to DJI or their dealer. That is what I am doing. I am not that confident in my soldering to risk $2000.

...this is the kind of information and instruction DJI should have come up with...just send them the hell of an invoice. Just wondering how many ESC's will get deep fried during the attemt of DIY fixing....
