    Hoverfly Hoverfly setup woes

Just an update: I had a few responses from Hoverfly. They did apologise for the delay on the support ticket - sounds like they've been pretty busy. Dan has suggested it may be a hardware fault, and has shipped a replacement board. Really looking forward to getting it and getting the new X8 up...

AV 200 IDD - anyone still using them?

So, I'll start by saying I know there are a couple of threads here covering the AV200, but most of them run out without conclusion. I'm pretty interested in the Av200 because it still seems the lightest way to mount a FF DSLR. 600g or so vs 2 - 2.2kg for a Ghost, Movi, etc. That's a huge...

Which gimbal would you choose in a pinch?

There are a number of mounts to rails - AeroXcraft have one as part of their landing gear set.

Fantastic news FlyingHigh. A big congratulations! Can I ask who you did your course with? And are you setting up your own business with it?

    Anyone from Sydney Australia?

Under the radar, literally, in Leichhardt! No, when I'm not just testing, I've usually been away from Sydney. But Sydney Park is good - wide open places. When its windy, people fly kites there so it's pretty aerial friendly. There's also a cricket field that's fenced, so it makes a good flight...

    Hoverfly Hoverfly setup woes

Thanks guys, I'll give the power-on first suggestion a go. I do have an open ticket with Hoverfly, I just haven't heard much from them.

    Anyone from Sydney Australia?

Hi guys, just checking in. Great to see a collection of Sydneysiders here. I'll hit the Facebook page up too - hope to see you around.

Hey Corgi, I just noticed you're in Sydney too. Where do you fly?

    Flight Controllers down under

I have a Naza which is fine, but was really interested in the almost universal praise for Hoverfly's smooth manual mode. I ordered a board and GPS from them, it delivered pretty quickly. The GPS puck is the new one that Bart discusses in the Hoverfly board, which seems to be a big improvement...

Yeah, the manual :) What mode 4 gives you is CH1-8 through the S-Bus, and CH9-16 through the ports. This is great, because you can use the first 8 channels to drive the flight controller through s-bus, then use the rest of the physical channels to plug into gimbals, camera shutter triggers...

Wrecked F550 (w/ pic), need to upgrade for more payload!

I don't think I'd use those ESC's on a bigger bird. Just get a known good combination. People here will help with programming them (if required). You don't need to ditch all of your frame if you want. You could use AerialMob's arm kit...

    FrSky/Taranis Owners Thread

That's all fine. Just calibrate the Taranis - follow this video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9yJCxQw3Yc&feature=youtu.be&t=3m17s Then also run through the calibration in the Naza Assistant. The message from FrSky support is confusing! He seems to be suggesting there's something...

    FrSky/Taranis Owners Thread

Ok - getting closer. If you haven't done any other setting up, then Gringers' excellent post will get you there. Read here for the basic how-to: http://www.multirotorforums.com/showthread.php?16608-Basic-Setup-Instructions-for-FrSky-Taranis-X8R-and-Naza-M-V2

You won't be able to spin the motors up just by moving the throttle around. You need to arm the motors first. With the Naza, the arm signal is both sticks down to the left or right. Pick one - I use left. As soon as you do this, the motors will spin up to idle. Do it just to check, and then yes...

    FrSky/Taranis Owners Thread

Yep - try once more. Make sure the Taranis is on, and in bind mode too. Just thinking, how far away from the Rx is the Taranis when you're trying to bind? I often have an issue where the Taranis looses signal when it's closer than about 30cm's to the Rx. Move it away a bit so you can be sure...

    Hoverfly Hoverfly setup woes

The problem does seem to be different now than at the beginning. I'm kind of suspecting an electronics failure, or I'm just doing something really really dumb...

    Hoverfly Hoverfly setup woes

Thanks Tahoelight. Ok, I tried connecting multiple times - no joy on switch position 1. I do have the latest driver, and uninstalled/reinstalled for good measure. What I have found is that I can actually connect to the Setup client with the USB switch in position 2! However, with this, the...

    Hoverfly Hoverfly setup woes

Does anyone have a contact at Hoverfly? Or know if they monitor any forums? I'm not getting much support through their online support. Feeling like I'm stuck with $1000 worth of dead flight control at the moment....
