Hoverfly Hoverfly and KDE motor/esc compatibility (or incompatibility!)

Thanks guys, and much appreciated for the suggestions. It's been a hectic week, so I probably won't be able to try until this or next weekend. I'll let you know how it goes. It would be great if it was just an endpoint issue!

Hoverfly Hoverfly and KDE motor/esc compatibility (or incompatibility!)

Taranis radio, x8r Rx. I'm using the Taranis on both - settings are identical.

    KDE XF esc's

I just found out the hard and expensive way today that the KDE 4012-400's / 35Amp ESC's aren't compatible with Hoverfly Pro board. See here for details - http://www.multirotorforums.com/showthread.php?21944-Hoverfly-and-KDE-motor-esc-compatibility-(or-incompatibility!)&p=182306#post182306 If...

post your AUW for flat okto or X8 airframes

Vulcan Black Widow X8 frame with retracts - just under 5kg without batteries. Looks like it'd be a bit heavier than you with comparable batteries.

    Vulcan black widow X8 build

Hi all. Had an interesting development today. I took my Hoverfly board (that didn't work on this Black Widow) and plugged it into my old F550 with an E300 drivetrain for a laugh. It armed the ESC's! I've posted here in the Hoverfly forum -...

Hoverfly Hoverfly and KDE motor/esc compatibility (or incompatibility!)

Some of you may have seen my build thread here - http://www.multirotorforums.com/showthread.php?21386-Vulcan-black-widow-X8-build - where I has having trouble with the Hoverfly Pro. The first one I had seemed to have an unusual hardware issue - Hoverfly sent me a replacement. I could connect to...

    Vulcan black widow X8 build

Too right :) I just put the retracts up, and put it on a wide aluminium tray I had, and put that on the scales. Its taken me a few days to find the tray so I could actually do this!

    Vulcan black widow X8 build

Weight Ok. Just got it on the scales properly tonight. It's just shy of 5kg, without batteries. Bit of a fat puppy! It's pretty close to my original estimate, but I thought I was on the conservative side. This does include for a few extras though, including retracts, Vx gear, Mobius cam...

    Vulcan black widow X8 build

Just measured it tonight for you: Looks like you could JUST get a 16" on there. It's close, and I'd be careful with any prop that has a degree of flex in it (it could flex up and hit the arm as it rakes over). But you really need to know what distance the prop mount is from the base of the...

    Anyone from Sydney Australia?

Hey, Rhodes is probably a pretty good place to fly - with the Olympic park next door. You should have a few good wide open spaces out there?

    Good evening from Sydney, Australia.

Hi NeRvD, Welcome aboard! There's a few of us here from Sydney, but it's always great to have some more Aussies around for moral support ;) The forum here is a pretty good resource for getting started - plenty of excellent help and reading to get you going. My 2c worth - get a tiny...

    F450 with 9443 props on 4S???

I have an F550, e300, 9" props and run it 4S. Works perfectly. 17min flight times with 5000mah battery.

Don't do it the hard way

Ha ha! This is brilliant. I'm adding all of these to my operations manual.

Don't do it the hard way

Ok, so we've all done stupid things - I'm sure it's not just me. Let's make this a list of all the things they don't tell you in the manuals - and probably really shouldn't have to. I'll kick it off: 1. Don't hold open bottles of thread lock over your motors. (I missed, but it was too...

    Vulcan black widow X8 build

I'm running the same all round. Internent wisdom suggests running more aggressive pitch on the bottom as they're spinning the wash from the top prop. My (small) understanding of coaxial design says the physics are way more complex than that, but hey - if it works it works.

    Vulcan black widow X8 build

Ah yeah, $36 for some machined aluminium! Having said that, they are really really beautifully designed and made pieces, and come with an array of washers and bolts. One other thing worth mentioning is it does yaw slightly clockwise after manoeuvring - just slight twist which puts it out of...
