CASA (Australian) UAV controller / operator certificate

Hey, that's great. I'd really like to get your impression of the process. Good luck!

CASA (Australian) UAV controller / operator certificate

Has anyone here been through the process themselves? It seems fairly straightforward - a lot of paperwork and discipline, but not unexpected. The PPL theory does seem very deep though. Any experiences or insight from those who have done it? My biggest question is about the actual UAV...

F550 NAZA V2 rolls right on take off

Check your gains in the Naza app. Set them all to 'default' using the button at the bottom right of the screen, and make sure there are no controls assigned to them (so all on 'init'/'int'/something like that) in the drop down menus below each setting.

    BMPCC Now half price

Blackmagic Design (www.blackmagicdesign.com) is offering a “Summer Special” discount for its Pocket Cinema Camera. Normally priced at $995, the camera is now available for $495, through August 31st. Pretty good price regardless!

The next rig for Yonder Blue Films - "Less Is More"

That's a great update. I've literally just ordered the 4012's for an x8 with the triple blade adaptors too. Theoretically it should have a bit of capacity, but it's always reassuring to see someone else on a similar build.

More Rules / Laws comming to Australia?

CASA seems remarkably fair at the moment, so we'll see how this goes.

DJI F550 - Brushless Gimbals for Nikon D600

I'm looking at options for the D600 too. It's not a heavy camera by full frame DLSR standards, but it's heavy for a UAV to lift. Depending on the lens you're looking to use, I'd be factoring in 1.3 to 1.8kg for the camera. There are lighter lenses, but if you're going to a D600, then you may as...

Lightbridge + S1000/800 + ZenMuse- what combinations work?

That's a shame - I was going to try something very similar myself. I want to keep using my Frsky rx for the sensor telemetry. How far away from your control tx do you have to move for the light bridge signal to improve?

    Props for my F550

Got a link to those props?

Lightbridge + S1000/800 + ZenMuse- what combinations work?

Can you just directly plug HDMI from the camera to the Lightbridge?

The next rig for Yonder Blue Films - "Less Is More"

I'm interested in an update too! How have you mounted the Movi to the Vulcan?

    FrSky/Taranis Owners Thread

Hey Moto - thanks for posting this over here. You might want to edit point 6, it seems to have gone haywire in the copy & paste. The setting should be "a<x"<x". Cheers, a. ******ah bugger - I can't get it to work! It should read "a is less than x". I don't know the proper vBulletin esc...

N00b question... How do I know when my battery is about to die?

Please post it where you see fit. I received so much help from other posts and guides here - I hope this can make it easy for someone else starting out.

N00b question... How do I know when my battery is about to die?

Ok! So maybe someone can re-direct me for this - I've had a great night so far! No flying for me! The Smart Port Lipo Sensor FLVSS will read each cell in your lipo. It will display these on its screen, but can also transmit the readings to your TX, so you can monitor the state of your batteries...

N00b question... How do I know when my battery is about to die?

Now you've got the voltage sensor, Have you worked out how to program your Taranis to show and speak the lowest cell voltage, and set off an alarm when one drops too low? Let me know if not and I'll write a simple how-to tonight.

    DJI F550 W/ E300 Lift capabilities?

Pretty new at this myself, but I stuck a nex very tentatively on my E300 F550 a few nights ago. It lifted, but needed a lot of throttle. I had quite a heavy lens on though. The ESC's weren't very hot after, but the setup needs further testing. This was all without landing gear - when that...

    Checking in from Sydney

Hi all! What a great forum. Like loads of others I suspect, I've gotten here through photography. I've been looking at kite photography for ages , but when starting out on that, found just how accessible multirotors are. I was almost convinced to get a phantom so I'd have everything sorted to...
