I hate to say that I'm very interested in the Zen Evo and the new S800 - Does that make me dirty? Seriously, is there a much better setup than what the S800 should be with a GH3 Zen that doesn't drift? If that combo remains around $7k-$8k and it actually works (I know, I know...) then this is...
Use servo tape and a well placed zip tie to attach it to the side of the roll cage. Get the ff servo. You'll figure out how to put it on. It's worth it.

I only use RSGS on my tilt, and tilt isn't very important to me because a Sony BOSS camcorder. I don't think too highly of RSGS - and pan on RSGS was nothing short of a nightmare - even with a Freefly Servo. Our pan is all manual. I don't really see the benefit of having pan stabilization...
I've used WS quite a bit - but I didn't know you could fix a horizon drift with it.
There seem to be a lot of unhappy S800/Zenmuse owners out there - I must confess I've considered that route - Glad you're having a good experience with it.
Best,
Tom
Thanks for doing all this Al. Could you provide details of your meeting with the FAA?
Did they agree to let you fly commercially with a safety certificate?
Are they saying they will allow anybody who takes this course to fly commercially?
Best,
Tom
I'm very interested in this Twodee Evo. It looks like about $600 to get it up and running with motors and controller. And you can put any camera on it? That's my only problem with the GotHeli version is camera limitations.
Anybody with any experience with it? I have also checked over on...
Looks great Ken! Glad to see you up and flying again.
I'm thinking about throwing the gimbal you are testing onto one of these for camera operator pan control:

What do you think?

im personally skeptical about the brushless craze. I think they're going to be great, but I don't think they're gong to be zenmuse great. It's all about the software, and zenmuse has top notch software. I think if you want to wait for brushless dslr you might be disappointed.
Why do you want...
A dji hex does have redundancy. An Octo has more.
Don't forget you will need to include gimbal in your payload.
The Zenmuse is the best gimbal available anywhere. That's why its expensive.
If you need to hoist a dslr then go Cinestar Octo and cinestar gimbal. If you don't want to...
Dji s800 with zenmuse would do great things with your gh2. It's portable and does have redundancy. Only real downside is you must use the gh2. No camera flexibility. Price is about $7k plus another $2000 or so for batteries, chargers, video down links, etc..
remember that even if you work very...
Absolutely you can build your own frame. All you really need are a couple sticks/rods/beams or whatever crossed over like an x, some motors, escs, flight controller, receiver, and battery. There are many build threads on the forums here. Good luck.
