Randomly I just received a call from Hill and Usher Insurance. I guess I had inquired about their insurance a couple months ago. They do liability only. They require auw to be less than 25 pounds. Also they require los flying. $1000 gets you $500000 liability. $1250 gets you $1 million...

Well there are plenty of threads around debating that issue. I don't want to hijack this thread, but the evidence seemed pretty clear to me after doing quite a bit of research. In my opinion insuring your gear is a bit of a gamble, unless you're a hobbyist. Tom

The problem I think arises if you are doing this commercially. If you are trying to insure your gear for a business that is illegal and you try to place a claim, then there is a problem. If you're a hobbyist then your homeowners insurance might cover it.

I guess I've never understood the need for lanc on these. Press record at the beginning and stop at the end right? And I've never understood the need for midair zoom either. Just fly closer. Maybe I'm missing something.

Now full on manual mode is different - very difficult to bring back if you lose orientation. I don't know HFP, but if it has an equivalent to DJI attitude mode (not GPS, but not manual either), then there shouldn't be any problem flying with momentary loss of orientation for a moderate pilot...

I think there is a bit of a misconception about orientation. Knowing your orientation is not necessary to be able to fly your rig back to you. If you're a quarter mile away and can still see your machine, but don't know which way it's pointed, then you will notice that moving the controller...

Your tilt gain is way too high. I have mine around 20 or 30 or so - and let my Sony BOSS do the rest. Your gains will differ from anybody else's with your setup because of the inconsistency between AV130s. It depends on the smoothness of the movement of your particular AV130, the exact...
