YUN-1, anybody else pre-ordered this?

This is the first 'manufactured' gimbal to use brushless motors that is in this price bracket. However, as with all new tech there are always following companies that are quick to jump in. The Mastor brushless gimbal from BevRC is already at the 'improved version' for pre-order boasting a few improvements.
As said previously, the Alexmos controller is integral to the gimbal. The new Mastor gimbal appears to use the same board but hacked firmware/compatibility with original firmware. Hopefully they are using slightly firmer anti-vibration mounts too ;-)
It has been interesting following progress over the last few months.

Trying to figure it out!
In the last week I have seen 3 options available now for GoPro:

YUN-I for $449 http://www.fpvmodel.com/yuni-brushless-gimbal-complete-kit-preorder_p496.html

Mastor-G for $329-$360 http://www.bevrc.com/mastorg-brushless-gimbals-for-gopro_p554.html

Cyllka by ARMBCG for $399 http://www.armbgc.com/cylllka-design-gimbal/

GotHeliRc.com has a $550 option for a Sony Nex-5.

And there are countless others in R&D phase to create Brushless Gimbals. This is great though because we will have options soon!!!

it's because the backlog of boards. All kinds of manufacturers are making them since the chineese new year...... it's the kickoff of the rc manufacturing season

Frames are all over the place sitting there, wit motor wires sticking off them..... if your a player, jump in, the quality is so crazy and cheap. up till last month this kinda gimbal was $4500 and you had to fly with wookong.

Thanks for the info Kloner, that makes a lot of sense than FPV's excuse, that they're waiting for the controller's case. I actually pre-ordered since January 28 (so it's almost 2 months now), I was going to do it myself but decided not to. What's weird too, is we haven't even receive the gimbal yet, but there's already a pirate copy of it which is cheaper, it's called Mastor Brushless Gimbal.

I like the idea of gimbals coming with boards, makes a lot of sense and should end the need for buying extra expensive little gizmos to stabilize something that should already be stabilized.

The information on one of the Nex 5 sized gimbals is here... http://www.gothelirc.com/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=201&cat=Brushless+Gimbal

I have this one setup and flying on a Cinestar 6, this is from a quick test flight in windy conditions, weather permitting I'll be out getting better scenery this weekend...

Here it is installed...

This is the YUN-1 that I have setup on an MK Hexa and almost ready for the first test flight..

I might be able to get it in the air today, certainly by the weekend, the plan is to go out and get video with both the Nex version and the YUN-1 at the same places.

Are there any specs, like weight, power needed, does it interface with Naza for tilt?

I have to admit I am very curious, and would order one if I could see specs and manual published as well as some more video if assembly and flight.

Yes there is provision to connect to either a flight controller or receiver to manually change tilt angle. I'm running both of mine on 3S, the YUN can handle 4S but probably best to use a filtered BEC at 12 volts, so far that has worked best for me.

I just got the manual and haven't had a chance to look at it yet. I'll have video from the YUN-1 as soon as I can finish the setup/installation on my MK Hexa, maybe today if I can find the time.

Ken

P.S. the manual is essentially a copy of the Alexmos manual, the YUN-1 controller is a clone of Alex's board and either GUI will work with it

Well I just pre ordered one from:

http://www.hovershotsapv.com/page9.html

I emailed him and he replied quickly that he does not have stock yet but will know more about delivery dates in a few days after meeting with the distributor.

I will post here about my experience with this dealer and hopefully about the gimbal soon.

I plan to replace my MKTR Pro Gimbal with this one on my F550 (I have got some decent results from that kit but the gimbal is not great) and I plan to build custom landing gear that puts the gimbal in the front and a battery tray in the back out of CF rods. I do have a machine shop and make camera rigs so this new gimbal has really peaked my interest.

I also have a S800 with Zenmuse I am very happy with, but I like having a smaller portable rig as well. My F450 is my knock around fun rig.

As a newbie I nearly clicked buy based on your video alone.. Then I Googled the cinestar 6 to see its £7,000. I suspect this won't have hurt your video either so I'll delay for a bit longer!
