Just a quick apology for not being around the forum much this last few weeks and to welcome new members, chuck my nose in and generally MODERATE!

Its been a manic few weeks with my day job and also my long on going process of becoming a accredited MR pilot in the UK..

Any how it looks like the place is buzzing with LOADS of new members and very interesting new threads.. I am going to grab a beer and check a few out..

BTW Welcome to everyone who I have not greeted.. this is a great place full of really helpful peeps.

Good luck!

Just a word of warning. I wrote to them asking to change my license to reflect that I didn't have a Draganflyer any more, and to put my hexa on there...I had to pay the £111 license fee again!

Anyway, it's all done and I should have my new copy next week sometime.

Gunter.

I haven't been around much either but for some very different reasons. On January 30 I was told by my employer my team of 11 people was being disbanded and I had 2 weeks to find another job within the company or be laid off on February 16. Two weeks of contacting everyone I could think of that might be able to help turned up nothing and I was ultimately let go on the 16th. Another week of more intensive job searching and I wind up getting rehired by the same company, in a better position, for substantially more $ but still having endured 4 weeks of angst over all of it by the time the offer letter arrived.

Just as everything seemed to be getting back on track, on Friday March 2 at 7:00 PM I was in the car waiting to take a left turn when a 19 year old girl, texting while driving, slammed into the rear of my less than 18,000 miles on the odometer 2010 Honda CRV tuning me sideways and pushing the car across the road into oncoming traffic where it was hit in the front by a car going the other way. Witnesses said she made no attempt to swerve or slow down and hit my CRV just right of center in the rear doing approximately 45 to 50 mph. My CRV was a total write off, the 4 page damage appraisal having a bottom line of $20,475.50 to repair the vehicle, the insurance company owns it now.

I started my new job Monday, carless, and having to deal with insurance companies, police reports, the residual aches and pains from the crash and airbag deployment (those things HURT!), and convinicing her insurance company to provide a rental car for me. It wasn't until this past Friday that the insurance officially declared my CRV unrepairable thereby clearing the way for me to purchase a replacement which I did on Saturday, I pick it up from the dealer this coming Wednesday.

Needless to say I haven't had much time for anything multirotor related and not a lot of time to spend here on the forum. With the change to daylight savings time this weekend I hope to get out and start doing some flying once I get through the remainder of dealing with the after effects of the crash. I'm still a little sore and my neck is a bit tight on the right side so I'll be seeing the doctor a bit until that gets sorted and hope it doesn't wind up any worse but otherwise I'm fine, the seatbelt and airbags did the job they are intended to do.

It's been a rough 5 weeks...

Wow Ken! After reading that I have nothing to complain about over the past few weeks. Really glad to hear you were not seriously hurt. Cars and RC stuff can always be repaired or replaced. Good to have you back and congrats on the new job.

Cheers!

Welcome to MultiRotorForums.com!!
Gents,
Thanks for the apologies and explanations but they're totally unnecessary!

@Dave, the nerve of you to be out making money and ignoring the needs of fledgling multi-rotor pilots around the world!! the nerve!!

@Ken, personal well being comes second! the girl that was texting, how do we know she wasn't programming waypoints for her AR Drone?? let's not be so quick to judge!

But seriously, I can't thank the two of you enough for all the help in keeping this place ticking. Boris fits right in as well!

Take care of what's important, we'll be here when you come up for air. :)

This place rocks.

I am only in the baby stages of starting a career and your experience with your job Ken was interesting to hear. I guess you never really know what's going to happen sometimes...

Glad you're ok. We have the technology to prevent accidents like that...smart phones with the GPS turned on know how fast they're going. With a little incentive I'm sure car companies could figure out how to tell if the phone's in the driver's seat, and keep texts from being written. Someday.

Welcome to MultiRotorForums.com!!
or they can make cell phones like guns and require you to carry them in the trunk. it's not safe to be on the roads anymore! Ken's experience isn't very rare unfortunately. i was two cars behind a car that was hit going through an intersetion when a young girl totally disregarded a stop sign. no doubt she was distracted by something to not even see it or slow down. that was about three weeks ago.

I haven't been around much either ...

A rough time indeed. Sorry to hear all that.

Do you know who the worst drivers are in France? You would be forgiven for answering "The French?" but no, the worst are young women. Specifically the 25 - 35 age range. Tailgating, lane-changing, impatient, always wittering on the phone, ALWAYS too fast, slow at the lights because they are busy with make-up and hair repair in the sun-visor or rear view mirror.
