I haven't been around much either but for some very different reasons. On January 30 I was told by my employer my team of 11 people was being disbanded and I had 2 weeks to find another job within the company or be laid off on February 16. Two weeks of contacting everyone I could think of that might be able to help turned up nothing and I was ultimately let go on the 16th. Another week of more intensive job searching and I wind up getting rehired by the same company, in a better position, for substantially more $ but still having endured 4 weeks of angst over all of it by the time the offer letter arrived.
Just as everything seemed to be getting back on track, on Friday March 2 at 7:00 PM I was in the car waiting to take a left turn when a 19 year old girl, texting while driving, slammed into the rear of my less than 18,000 miles on the odometer 2010 Honda CRV tuning me sideways and pushing the car across the road into oncoming traffic where it was hit in the front by a car going the other way. Witnesses said she made no attempt to swerve or slow down and hit my CRV just right of center in the rear doing approximately 45 to 50 mph. My CRV was a total write off, the 4 page damage appraisal having a bottom line of $20,475.50 to repair the vehicle, the insurance company owns it now.
I started my new job Monday, carless, and having to deal with insurance companies, police reports, the residual aches and pains from the crash and airbag deployment (those things HURT!), and convinicing her insurance company to provide a rental car for me. It wasn't until this past Friday that the insurance officially declared my CRV unrepairable thereby clearing the way for me to purchase a replacement which I did on Saturday, I pick it up from the dealer this coming Wednesday.
Needless to say I haven't had much time for anything multirotor related and not a lot of time to spend here on the forum. With the change to daylight savings time this weekend I hope to get out and start doing some flying once I get through the remainder of dealing with the after effects of the crash. I'm still a little sore and my neck is a bit tight on the right side so I'll be seeing the doctor a bit until that gets sorted and hope it doesn't wind up any worse but otherwise I'm fine, the seatbelt and airbags did the job they are intended to do.
It's been a rough 5 weeks...
