Can manual mode be disabled but made available for compass calibration?

jwk, you might be able to map Attitude mode and Manual mode to a spring loaded switch that always returns to attitude mode. Then override attitude mode with another switch to achieve GPS for RTH etc.

Want to build a larger multirotor

You will have more options if you look at AliExpress..... I have had great luck with purchasing the Cinestar Octocopter airframe. AliExpress is a central depot for many manufacturers and FamousHobbies Shop is excellent. They also sell the Cinestar Hexacopter if you dig deeply enough into...

DJI Wookong yawing right in Manual but not in GPS or ATTi

No.... My understanding is that the yaw issue tends to become aggravated as MR arm length increases and/or the payload is positioned further from the center of the MR hub. Apparently the cw motors need to be canted about 3 deg in the MR hub clockwise direction and the MR hub ccw motors canted...

DJI Wookong yawing right in Manual but not in GPS or ATTi

I have see multiple postings on this issue most specifically to the coax designs both here and on Freefly forum. This can occur even when all motor thrust lines are totally vertical. But there is a fix for it..... just don't recall exactly where/how.

    DJI A2 Performance/Build Comparisons

We used to do this way back in 1st year university in Physics 101: If you can determine the center of gravity of each part and its mass then you can use that information to determine the center of gravity of the system by summing the system mass moment of inertia. Where the sum of the first...

switching the DJI opto ESC's to sense NICD rather than Lipo ?

Since it is not possible to disable low volt cutoff on an ESC, the next best thing is to set it as low as possible. Since the low volt cutoff can be set much lower for NiMh battery type, select NiMh instead of LiPo when configuring your ESC. Note: NiCd is nearly equivalent to NiMh with respect...

2014 - best ESC at the moment?

Kloner, Maytechs incompatible with pancake style motors..... Just wondering which pancake motors you were using? And did that have a higher pole count such as 22....which might be the reason for incompatibility. I am trying to buy new ESCs but would rather not have to replace all my pancake...

FAA is blocking commercial use of quads?

It would be best if the title of this topic thread was mellowed just a bit..... it implies that the FAA is determined to work against this new technology and that is a bit misleading and divisive - IMHO.:dejection: They have been instructed by the US President to come up with a solution to...

    ESC question

In any case I have been flying this Hex c/w these 2 to 4S batteries for a very long time, i.e., over 130 flights, using the 6S rated 22 pole motors and parallel 5S and later the 6S batteries. And they never get hot! My design focus was on the ESC and motor amp ratings....... I am shocked that I...

I have been using some 30 amp Opto ESCs for a long time based for on the recommendation of a friend. But the motors have moved up in size to the following that draw 29 amps and can use 6S batteries...

    MR Bench Testing tools

For motor balancing I am currently using ISeisometer for IPhone. This is used in combination with a spare ESC and standalone speed controller. But I need to dial in a specific rpm which requires an rpm meter (not a prop tach as the props remain off at this stage). I am also considering buying...

That tiny hole, if I recall correctly, is actually for the tiny onboard LED which you will not be able to see once mounted upside down. Otherwise no worries.

    Good Prop Balancer?

Rods are typically straight at time of purchase. If they always rotate to the same angle, it is because the rod has picked up some magnetism from the end magnets. Never store the rod between the magnets. To remove magnetism from the rod, degauss it with an AC electromagnetic coil and test with a...
