how to get rid of twitchy behavior??!!

I had similar problems with a custom designed S800 clone...... it would wobble badly in the slightest breeze regardless of Gains settings. In my case I upsized the motors from the the 490kv to the more expensive 420KV that also have extra torque and all issues disappeared. I still use the newer...

Would an F550 Be Stable If Built As A Quad?

The WooKong allows you to configure the FC for the H shape but not the NAZA which does not seem to be an issue apparently as mentioned in this thread. At least not until you change to larger prop diameters and motors due to the extra space available with 2 arms removed. Keep in mind NAZA...

A good question that is best answered by means of using eCalc for Multirotors. A wonderful way to gain valuable insight into all such options.

    Motor Balancing

I am having issues with two out of 8 of my MR motors. They are all new. Six are as smooth as silk throughout their rpm range. But the remaining two sound rough and there is noticeable vibration on the Octo motor arms. After initial balancing attempts on one, I replaced both factory NTM...

Please Help - Lost E-clips and motor washers after bearing swap!

Yes....... choose the external type with the little holes so that you and use an appropriate insertion/removal tool...... the most effective way. And don't be scared of spending extra money on a top quality tool for insertion/removal. Otherwise you risk a failed retainer ring and loss of prop...

Please Help - Lost E-clips and motor washers after bearing swap!

You can buy the c-clips, retainer clips or circ-clips at many fastener places..... look them up in your industrial park areas. BTW - Never re-use these as they done not retain their spring/holding power. The tiny slip rings or washers are much more challenging to source..... I posted the same...

    Center of gravity explanation?

Go to time 4min + 38 seconds in this video for a good idea of how IMUs and FCs can handle C of G above the prop plane......but much depends on the programming. http://www.ted.com/talks/raffaello_d_andrea_the_astounding_athletic_power_of_quadcopters.html Keep in mind that NASA used older FC...

How true is this statement regarding ESCs

IMHO - Its not quite so simple as PWM is used in different ways for different purposes. Also if you look at a PWM signal on a high quality Oscilloscope you will see a high voltage spike on the leading edge of each square wave and that spike tends to break down motor winding insulation by poking...

unable to use remtote gain DJI WKM

Go to YouTube and look for two RC system training videos on how to set up your RC radio system to achieve remote gain control. Look for Jon DesJardins videos....... What he applies to the Futaba RC radio system is generally applicable to all RC radio systems but each has it's own way of...

DJI iOSD Mark II - Convert meters to feet

Is it possible that making Lat/Long available on iOSD Mark II would open the door for anyone to develop an alternate GCS waypoint system to compete with the DJI GCS systems? But ofcourse, a 5.8Ghz GCS link would have very limited range relative to the 10km offered using GCS at 900Mhz.

    Power distribution board

As an extra precaution for the heavy lifters, I use an IR remote temperature gun to get the PDB temperature immediately after a flight with a heavier camera but I am flying a Cinestar 8 so the PDB is rugged.....

January 2014...which is the best brushless Gimbal for GoPro2?

I assume you are talking about the Alexmos BGC. Tiny oscillations are not a PID loop tuning issue. There is another couple of parameters and one has to due with controlling the BGC motor torque or current. Adjust that to eliminate the tiny ripples.

    colin guinn booted from DJI

IMHO - The concept of a single distributor for all of North America does not fit well for the adjacent NA countries where customers incur disproportionate additional delivery delays as a result of warehousing, extra charges as a result of excess customs, duties, excise, flat brokerage fees and...

brushlessgimbals.com Cinestar conversion - any good?

When purchasing from AliExpress, pay close attention to the source supplier of the items you are looking for. In the case of Famous Hobby Shop, all their Cinestar kits and Cinestar replacement parts are 100% carbon fiber except for the solid aluminum components of course. Where the confusion...

Quad vs Hex for a noob

Both are equally easy to fly but the Hex costs more due to the two additional motors and escs and may take a bit longer to configure and bench test. Also should you need to rebalance the props/motors then 4 is faster than balancing 6. If you are looking for easier flight configuration the "I"...

    highest posible windspeed to fly?

Smooth wind flow over flat surfaces such as water can be handled much easier than turbulence. Think of turbulence as invisible tumbleweed bouncing across the ground with upwind side air going up and downwind side air dropping rapidly...... very hard to control altitude and pitch in such...
