The new F1 Gimbal (Air Studio/Phobotic) for GH4 sized cameras

From the videos I saw, the G3 is light years away from the Z15 in terms of stabilization. Close to a well tuned Alexmos, if anything. And no autotuning is mentioned anywhere. Edit - here's one example OF THE ALIGN G3 GIMBAL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MA61Vmrzg00&app=desktop We'll be...

The new F1 Gimbal (Air Studio/Phobotic) for GH4 sized cameras

The prototype weighs about 990 grams, we intend to keep it around this weight for production. It would be very light.

The new F1 Gimbal (Air Studio/Phobotic) for GH4 sized cameras

Just look at the bearing size on those motors. They're massive. We're stiffness fanatics, won't release anything not absolutely solid.

The new F1 Gimbal (Air Studio/Phobotic) for GH4 sized cameras

The mechanical part is designed and manufactured by HD Air Studio, while the electronics are of course made by Phobotic. The gimbal does not have special firmware (we really try NOT to go there for reasons of maintainability and updates). There's no special profile either. We rely on the...

The new F1 Gimbal (Air Studio/Phobotic) for GH4 sized cameras

The F1 Gimbal is a result of a cooperation between Air Studio (HD Air Studio) and Phobotic, aimed at creating the perfect, reference-grade gimbal. A significant effort was focused on getting a gimbal that's as light and as stiff as possible. For this we used an innovative construction...

    Phobotic Centerpiece Brushless Gimbal Controller

We've got a few CPs from this batch now on the shop. CPHV is out of stock for 3 weeks, until the new ones arrive.

    Phobotic Centerpiece Brushless Gimbal Controller

We're just catching up now on orders from two weeks ago. We had a hard time ramping up manufacturing to meet the demand (mainly due to initial customers placing repeat orders and large dealer orders). I don't have a firm date for the CP yet. We may have a few left in stock when we're done with...

    Phobotic Centerpiece Brushless Gimbal Controller

You don't need a second IMU but it will have significant benefits in future firmware versions. As for RLG vs retracts: it's true RLGs are more structurally solid, while retracts probably introduce some vibrations to the airframe. But RLGs add a lot of inertia on the yaw axis, they resonate...

    Phobotic Centerpiece Brushless Gimbal Controller

In terms of stabilization it is always better to use retracts (regardless of the controller or gimbal) as opposed to RLG (rotating landing gears). That being said, the CP works with some RLGs and does not work well with others. We are making improvements as we go, and introducing RLG-specific modes.

    Phobotic Centerpiece Brushless Gimbal Controller

It depends on so many things - efficiency and resistance of the gimbal motors, balancing, power source... we've tested the CP with 2KG payload.

    Phobotic Centerpiece Brushless Gimbal Controller

These differences do not affect the stabilization, but allow the CPHV to work with larger gimbals and cameras.

    Phobotic Centerpiece Brushless Gimbal Controller

There's a table in the bottom of the page showing the differences. The CPHV adds high voltage rating, higher current rating, Bluetooth and comes with two IMUs. You can download the manual with mounting instructions from here: https://phobotic.com/static/user_manual.pdf

    Phobotic Centerpiece Brushless Gimbal Controller

This is definitely one of the coolest CP videos to date:

    Phobotic Centerpiece Brushless Gimbal Controller

You can calibrate on ground, stop the gimbal using a button, leave the battery connected and start it again with a button when on the boat. This would yield optimal calibration. We'll add a dedicated "boat mode" that would let you cold start from a boat, but like any other system (MoVI, AM)...

    Phobotic Centerpiece Brushless Gimbal Controller

Yep, exactly that. There is another option of the Adir BEC, which provides the same functionality but also includes a 3A 12v BEC and a 3A 5v BEC, together with a power switch controlling both BECs and the Centerpiece. It's stackable on the Centerpiece and a very elegant solution if you need 5v...

    Phobotic Centerpiece Brushless Gimbal Controller

There might be a problem as the CP contains a barometer in the center. I think it'll be damaged if you dip it in material. You can always cover it - it'll only be used for some future features.

    Phobotic Centerpiece Brushless Gimbal Controller

Ok, confirmed that all seems fine from the diagnostic data :)
