    XAircraft SuperX on heavy lifter

Been working on my gimbal. Got a NEX now, and doing test flights. Had bad jello, then changed to softer jello-balls. Big difference. Last flight had more jello though in some wind, probably because I had my gain turned down by accident.

XAircraft SuperX with Arris Zhaoyun Gimbal

I picked up a Sony NEX-5T which is what this gimbal was made for. The first flight had very little vibes at all and almost NO jello. Quite happy about that. The 2nd flight tonight though, had very bad jello. Then I noticed my gain knob was turned all the way counter clockwise. SO, I'm not...

I don't think so. When I was having arming issues I did the stick cal numerous times.

I understand your implication Moto. Personally I can't help thinking the Taranis has something to do with it since there are other calibration issues like the gain knob we've been discussing. I'm fairly confident (knocking on wood) that as long as the ESC is seeing full throttle down at...

An FYI and Moto probably already knew this, but I was able to successfully get it done the first time by going -89 to +100. Then I read someone with the same issue got it working with -97 to +100 so I tried that. I've been on that cali ever since and only maybe 3 times out of 15 have I had one...

The same happens for me, motor #6. I power down the bird and make sure my throttle stick is all the way down. Restart bird and all is fine.

Hah I hear that. My rock which I've been rubbing hoping for a diamond is a Phantom. So irritated with the crap quality of the GoPro I decided to built the T960 to carry a good camera. That's my diamond. Ironically this week I shot the best video ever with my phantom. Absolutely perfect with...

    What frame are you running?

If I ran one battery I'd reduce it down to 11 pounds or so. Each of these 5000's I'm running is 1.7 pounds (788 grams). I plan to move up to a 10,000 or some other single battery otherwise I have to have two sets of telemetry for my battery cells.

I've had my landing gear slip recently. By the way I finally weighed my T960 out of curiosity, after Kloner mentioned I was running a heavy bird. With two 5000mAh batteries and the Zhaoyun gimbal mounted (no camera) it is 13 pounds (6 kilos). How does that compare to yours?

I plan to keep an eye on my arms as I've read with this frame there can be slippage. Some have even drilled each end and put a bolt through to prevent them from moving. I also thread locked all my screws but will regularly check them to make sure none are coming loose.

From all I've read it might be out of level and working harder to compensate or the bird is heavy to that side?

Moto take a look at motor #4 in particular. It seems to be running a little higher than the rest. I'm no pro on this, but my percentages are all within 5% of each other, ranging from 59-64%.

I'll try that fltundra. So when you do tweak the gain during flight, what is the range which shows up in the black box?

    XAircraft SuperX on heavy lifter

I probably don't have the limit set right. I shot a picture of my profile page 7, servos. This is where I set the -30 to +30. Is this correct? And yes I did set the center point (far right column called PPM center) to 1530 at one point, but thought the gain percentages were f'd so I put it back.

    XAircraft SuperX on heavy lifter

The limit is set from -30 to +30 (or so I think), but the results on mine as they appear in the black box go from -125% to 84%.

    XAircraft SuperX on heavy lifter

My range is set already from -30 to +30 as they suggest, unless I'm setting the wrong thing. Drew emailed me a couple of days ago and said that the gain knob on the taranis is "pretty unreliable." "The gain knob is pretty unreliable in my opinion so I would recommend tweaking the software...

So is that throw length correct? The TX is set at -30 to +30, but on the black box it is going from -125% to +84%. Seems to me that -125% would mean the motors wouldn't run!

What effect would that have? What is it offsetting and why 4.3?
