What other light weight cameras should I consider before getting a gopro. I am thinking of getting a DJI F550 to fly it, with a 2 axis gimbal. Budget is no more than a gopro hero3+ black.

Not at all! The Nano QX works just fine in a light breeze, and is rather fun to fight gusts with. Highly recommend the nano QX. Anyways the MQX is discontinued, and I believe the nano qx has a better flight control.

I want to be able to use a pixhawk+GPS controller, a small FPV camera, sony nex 5t, video switch between cameras, FPV, telemetry, 2 axis gimbal for the nex. Will the F550 be able to lift this and be a reliable filming platform or should I be looking at larger craft?

New here as well, but I asked the question a month ago else where. The vast majority of people said just to get a Nano QX or Hubsan X4 and practice flying with that.
