I had fun making this. It will be worth 2 minutes of your time. Enjoy and feel free to share.

Cheers.

Very nice. Did you color correct or was the water that color? Nice day weather wise too!

Guessing gopro 4k or some other camera with fisheye lens?

You launch from American or Canadian side. I live a couple hours from there, but wouldn't know where to go to launch from.

I cranked the saturation up a bit but not enough to change the water color. Hero 4 black. I am having a bit of trouble removing fisheye on vids. Pictures are no problem. I need to work on that some more but I really don't mind it. Launched from Canada. Thanks for looking.

Fantastic video! I'd love to see you try and remove the distortion. I know you said that you had tried but I'm surprised you didn't have any luck. I've had good results even from the GoPro software that they provide. There are some useful plugins for Final Cut as well if you use that. Anyway, that's fantastic footage so I'd give it a go to make it as good as possible. Cheers.

Yes the stupid fish eye lens spoilt it for me. Niagara Falls is definitely not that distorted shape. Perhaps consider a sensible replacement lens instead of trying to correct corrupt information?

I have a lens on order. Dealing with it post production sucks although I have to admit I like the effect sometimes.

There is an aftermarket lens from the cctv industry people have imported and charged outrageous money for. Google gopro 5.4mm lens. Field of view is tighter and no fisheye. You can pay from $100 to $400 for one. Can't personally tell you if one is superior over another but I suspect they are all the same.

Can you still fit the gopro in the waterproof case with an aftermarket lens? I use mine for both scuba and multicoptery.

You want the one from OSTRC. It's the same lens as Ragecams. You will have to make sure you pack in some material around the lens barrel as the sensor is somewhat exposed after the swap. I used o-rings. Also, focus will be a pita, but the nice part is you can set some marks on the lens and refocus it as needed. You may not always want it at infinity.

Finally, be prepared to have any shot that's even remotely in to the sun ruined by lens flare and nasty reflection. It's not the kind that adds to the image.. it makes it unusable. And as an added bonus, the effects of jello are greatly enhanced due to the narrower FOV. Balanced props and shooting in lower light are important.

I've done three of these conversions with the exact same results. But it's well worth it in certain cases. You will want a OEM lens GoPro to have as well. The modified camera does not fit into the waterproof case without removing some of the cushion material.

YMMV.
