    Gunters new octocopter build

Ben, I use Autocad 3d modelling (I render the images using the monochrome preset), I work with it all the time so I can do it in my sleep. I have used Sketchup before, but not that much. It's also easier for me to then output a DXF file for laser cutting. I did see your thread, looks good...

Tomorrow will be a day of mixed emotions...

Ah yes, just to throw me into more of a turmoil about what FC to choose!! After seeing the failsafe landing, I think the DJI system might still be the best option!! Fancy that, after such a terrible landing, still posting the video for everyone to see how terrible it works!!

I am due to meet the new owner of my Draganflyer X4. He flies in from Italy first thing into Gatwick, I have book a meeting room at a local golf course with breakfast ... then the deal will be struck and I will drop him off at the airport to make his way home again with his new heli. It's sad...

Thanks, just what I was looking for :-) William sent resistors for 5v, so that bit of kit will be perfect...lets hope it can power all my lights!

    LEDS amazingly bright

I think so, I tested them yesterday when it was mostly bright outside and they seemed okay. I will check this weekend during the day when the sun is shining!

At the moment with 5v from the ESC...must find another alternative though, that can reduce voltage to 5v and a few amps...I'll get there!

I need help with one more thing...

The last thing I need to design is the camera mount. I want to use the photohigher mount, but I don't have the mounting dimensions. Is there anyone with one of these mounts that could give me some dimensions please? What I need is: 1. Diameter of the 2 mounting tubes 2. Distance between the...

    LEDS amazingly bright

They are the superlights, pretty good. I even tried to mount them inside my booms and the result is impressive!! I also tried to silicon them inside a small plastic cup, to make them easier to mount, but it's very difficult! Silicone all over the place and gave up...maybe I'll try that...

    Drilling my booms

Brilliant, thanks for all the suggestions guys. Just got to work, so I will read through them today and drill them all this evening...fingers crossed!

    Drilling my booms

I need to drill 2 locating holes in my booms, one either end, to stop them turning. These holes need to be exactly in line with each other, so that when I mount the motors, they are all vertical... Does anyone have any crazy ideas how I can get this accurate with the average workshop tools...

    Gunters new octocopter build

OVDT, not sure of the weight as it won't even register on my digital scales (people scales that is!) but it is extremely light. I can't see them being much heavier than the Droidworx booms, probably the same weight. Black spacers (boom clamps) I ordered from motors and rotors, part number...

    Gunters new octocopter build

I had another "bright" idea this evening...put the lighting inside the booms :-) I'm not sure if it will be bright enough in the day, but at night it looks pucker!

    LEDS amazingly bright

My LED's arrived today, they are pretty bright, I'm sure they will do the job. I had my daughter take them 200 yards away and they were still easily visible... Only problem is they are a bit tricky to mount, because the wires come out of the back...I'll take a closeup pic when I get a chance.
