How brave are you? Hexacopter chasing kite

Well done. I don't know if I would fly so far away over sea, I would be scared of loosing my heli! Good footage.

    Gunters new octocopter build

I did a whole lot more modelling tonight. Mounting plates altered, landing gear added, props added, led holders made smaller, slots added for weight reduction... I made motor to motor c/c distance 900mm in case I want to use larger 13" props. I will start with 12's but at least I can upgrade...

    This hobby doesn't come cheap!!

Hi Midnight, I haven't decided exactly yet, that was a bit of a budget price based on funds available! But yes, I was thinking of the MK mount. I still have to decide on the camera I want to lift, I am very tempted by the NEX5 but I want to make sure I can find a remote trigger etc that will...

    Looking for a cad drawing...

Does anyone have a cad drawing of a prop? can be dxf or dwg format...I just want to plug it into my 3d model - props take a while to draw because of their shape :-(

Nice pic there Dave. Early mornings are deffo the time to take pictures, nice and calm and normally less people about to worry about!

    This hobby doesn't come cheap!!

The only problem with doing architectural or real estate photography in the UK is the weather...ideally it needs to be a calm sunny day in the summer which don't come around that often. Winter is even worse, where there are occasions when we don't see a decent sunny day for a week or two! Gunter.

Ah, okay. Whenever I visit my friend in Malcesine, on the shores of Lake Garda, I can only communicate with the locals in German...that explains it! I don't do Italian and they don't do English...

Why is there a "Pension" in Italy? Is that also an Italian word or is it just a German name in Italy? Very well done, I like it. Good music and scenes. Prima :-)

    This hobby doesn't come cheap!!

Maybe I'm saying what everyone else is thinking, but this hobby of ours is pricey!! I have just done a little tally of what it's going to cost to build my octo. This doesn't include a camera, camera trigger gubbins, video transmitter etc, just the basics to fly a half decent octo...scary...

    Specially made acrylic domes...

I have just sent these guys an email enquiring about acrylic domes http://www.ukplasticfabrication.co.uk/ They have a standard range of sizes which cost between £15-£20 + postage, or for an extra £25 tooling charge, they will custom make you any size dome. Flange is also no problem and it's an...

UK / Europe MRF Community Meet

True...I have a big 7 seater and trailer, kit could go in there. If there are 5 others from down here that would be willing to share petrol costs it would be worthwhile.

    Gunters new octocopter build

Actually I did intend on putting 2 LEDs under the mount, if you look at my first motor mount pic you will see 2 holes. Problem is that there isn't much space in that bottom plate, specially for the led I've bought, it has a threaded stud coming out the back for +ve connection. I'll have a tinker...

    Gunters new octocopter build

Dave, unless the led's have 180° field of view, they will be difficult to see when the heli is low. The idea with the 45° plate is that the led's will always be at the optimum position to see well. If it causes any problems I can always have new plates made and try again, I don't expect they...
