    Please explain prop pitch...

Thanks guys, my thoughts were confirmed...the higher pitch means a faster heli, so I really want to go for a slightly lower pitch which in theory should make it smoother to fly?

    Gunters new octocopter build

Thanks for the comments. Yes, you are right, it is quite big. What I will do is have another look at it when the LED's arrive (hopefully today) Thanks, Gunter.

    Please explain prop pitch...

I have got to a stage where I have to select props for the heli. I am just trying to understand the theory of the prop pitch, so that I can select a good blade for the heli. I am building an octo with jdrones 880kv motors: Does a higher pitch mean that the blade is angled more, meaning faster...

UK / Europe MRF Community Meet

I'd love to come but it's a 10 hour round trip for me from Reading...not to mention £200 in fuel  I will have to give this one a miss, but feel free to make the next one further down south :) We did actually have one down here a couple of months ago. It was very successful, even though...

    Gunters new octocopter build

I have re-designed the lower motor mount - shaved a bit of weight off then added some on! The round thing on the end is an ultra bright led from http://www.lightingforaeromodellers.co.uk/

    LEDS amazingly bright

Thanks for the link Dave. I have been searching for led's for the last few days and he has exactly what I need. I ordered 3 of the superlights this afternoon and he has posted them for me already. I'll post a pic/video of them when I have them back home.

    Gunters new octocopter build

I haven't decided yet, but thinking of the Wookong...looks the most stable but still doesn't have all the features I ideally want...I have had many sleepless nights trying to work out what FC to use!!

    Gunters new octocopter build

Thanks for the comments Pintac. The wires will go inside the boom and come out at the end where the boom is. I am also busy redesigning the lower motor mount plate - it will be extended and folded up so that I can fit led's onto it. This will protect the motor wires...I'll post a pic a bit...

RED EPIC M flies on CineStar 8

That is lovely, probably the most expensive aerial video platform I have ever seen, and it looks perfectly stable as well...I'll have to keep saving the pennies, or win that euromillions lottery on Friday!

    Gunters new octocopter build

I have started design and getting components to the new octo. I am building it using aluminium, and anodising it a funky colour. I have found some boom clamps from a Razor 600E tail boom costing £4.99 for a set of 4...nice and cheap. They are also the perfect size, taking a 3/4" ali tube...

    Batteries and power distribution questions

Hi David, totally aside from your post, I'm in Tadley and hook up with a couple of local guys occasionally for flying and the odd chat! Why not say hi on homegrowndrones.co.uk Cheers, Gunter.

    LEDS amazingly bright

Odd, that's exactly what I have been doing today, buying led's! The ones I got don't have a wide enough viewing angle though. Those ones look very bright - do you have a link to the thread on the MK forums? Thanks, Gunter.

    Please help with some dimensions

Jes, I see where you are coming from. I currently fly a quad with 13" props and I find it a bit unstable in wind. It really has to be quite calm to make a decent video. When it's calm, it flies superbly though. Although I have ever flown a 6 or 8 rotor heli yet, it still looks a lot more stable...

    Please help with some dimensions

Many thanks ovdt. I was planning to use the high impact dome. I might be be able to get one specially made with fibreglass but I will find out next week. Is that 185mm the same diameter for the dome as well? Cheers, Gunter

LiPo batteries and travelling by air

The dealer has told me he thinks it is because of a zip on the inside of the bag touching the battery terminals. Not sure how true that is, because it is a female terminal and no metal sticks out (deans connector) but I suppose it is a possibility.
