    Infinite rotation servos

Nice place - I'm aiming a bit further north, like the southern end of Bahia. I'm not fussy with the wine here - just bring me a bottle of Planalto and put some ice in the glass ;)

Sorry about the fuzzy photo :) Of course, the encoder is also "absolute", i.e. it will only ever give you a position between 0 and 360º - even though it will turn continuously. So to use it you'd have to gear it, which would kinda defeat the object :)

Now that I think about it, I "mispoke" ;) - not all "magnetic encoder" servos will be unmodifiable - I was thinking of one that's on my desk in front of me that has the encoder chip on the board (I could tell you the brand/model but then I'd have to kill you ;)). The Hitec 7990's actually use a...

    Infinite rotation servos

I'm so jealous of you moving to Brazil - it's about the only place in the world I'd rather be than right where I am ;) Sending wine to Portugal would be like shipping ice cubes to the Eskimos :) - we have some of the best in the world here already! (you'll be shocked how much they charge for...

    Infinite rotation servos

AMT102 - US$23.63 each at Digikey - not too bad :) - not sure what you mean by "so it's a proper torque motor" - the position encoder would work with any kind of motor. Thanks for the info, though. I've always found their quoted figure of "0.05º" to be interesting - an odd figure when you try to...

XAircraft X650 - Not impressed with the screw quality!

Yep :) - Wiha are definitely "the mutt's nuts" for hand tools. Life is just so much more enjoyable when you're not stripping threads and rounding out hex heads ;)

    Infinite rotation servos

Do you have a CopterControl board, Chris? If not - the first batch of the new CC3D is coming up for sale "very soon" (visit forums.openpilot.org and keep a sharp eye on the News section). One of the developers (Cossacs) has been "breathing on" the camera stabilisation code recently (not in the...

XAircraft X650 - Not impressed with the screw quality!

@Totality and @Search49 - don't know where you are in the world but, wherever that is, you're be able to but these screws independently - the sizes are all standard. My recommendation would be to buy stainless steel Torx-headed screws. Hex (allen) heads are really not a good idea down at these...

    Infinite rotation servos

Denny's first paragraph answers Kilby's question - in the "normal" way to 360-mod a servo you either disconnect the servo from the output shaft but leave it in the circuit (a "locked pot") or substitute it altogether with a pair of appropriately valued resistors. Such a servo will rotate at a...

Yes :) More stick = more speed.

PH Hero 3000 gimbal "caught on film"!

Right company, wrong part ;) http://www.harmonicdrive.net/products/gearheads/ http://www.harmonicdrive.net/products/actuators/customactuators/ "Harmonic drive" is the actual gearbox.

    Neills DIY Gimbal Design

The new Savox brushless servos (including the 2271 you linked to) can't be modified for 360º rotation. Like the Hitec 7990, they use a magnetic encoder - a magnet on the bottom of the output shaft sits directly above the encoder chip on the PCB. Besides, the backlash in the gearhead exceeds the...

PH Hero 3000 gimbal "caught on film"!

http://www.radflight.com/fleet.html So PH have some working units out there already! That's encouraging news. It sure does look good :) Also, this bit of interesting info on PH's website - hadn't noticed it before, or did it appear recently? IMO, this is the way forward for high-end...

    Hoverfly is at the RNC

I hear your conviction, but I'm not swayed ;) - The whole thing smells bad. UnitedDrones.com was only registered about 9/10 months ago. The domain shares a server with 253 "mom & pop websites". Googling the name produces zero hits other than this blatant bit of kite flying. I'm familiar with...

Black magic 4k camera? Anyone got one or tested on multirotor?

http://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/blackmagiccinemacamera/ Nice piece of kit - only wrinkle in the rug being how to get composite video out of it - from the look of it you'd have to carry one of their (expensive) converter boxes on board too. 2.5K should be sweet for this app - loads of...

    Sony Lanc / AV cables

These guys sell right-angled versions of the Sony plug with bare ends: http://www.digi-dat.de/produkte/index_eng.html And an interesting thread about wiring the Spny AV plug: http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/sony-hvr-a1-hdr-hc-series/120395-hdr-hc9-v-remote-terminal-lanc.html

No, I'm not. Sorry that I rained on your parade, Al - mucho respect for your company and products - but I smelled a rat and had to follow it up.

    Hoverfly is at the RNC

And check out the United Drones "Wraith" ground vehicle: http://www.theatlanticwire.com/national/2012/08/hardcore-security-gear-protecting-conventions/56174/ - very cunning disguise for a hi-tech "autonomous ground vehicle": make it look exactly like a $299 RC toy. :)
