    Neills DIY Gimbal Design

Yes, epoxy - preferably slow-cure. Rough up the surface first with sandpaper. Clean surfaces thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol. Use firm pressure until it goes off.

Is it possible to control a Multirotor or a gimbal with a JOYSTICK.....?

Cool! I'm going to try that :) Thanks, kloner.

So do I :) Taking photographs of people taking photographs of people who aren't there any more. Spooky! Nice shooting :)

    battery solutions

20C packs are usually more than enough. Really you should be checking with eCalc - get the figures to agree with your current results then you can change batteries to observe the effects. Lower C rating also means the voltage will sag more under load, effectively delivering less "punchy"...

    Neills DIY Gimbal Design

Amazing - and all made "by hand". :strawberry: The twisting in your stem structure makes sense - the spacers are not an efficient way to bind the two plates into a single, rigid structure. For a quick fix, I'd try gluing small CF plates between selected pairs of the standoffs. This should bind...

Help with Building a CineStar 8 (& Copters in General)

The quad charger I have is actually the Robbe.de version of it. They have their own proprietary battery "logging" system, called "BID". This is a small chip that is attached to each pack. When you charge the battery, you also plug its BID chip to the (compatible) charger. Apart from storing your...

Help with Building a CineStar 8 (& Copters in General)

I agree those chargers do look good - I might try one :) - I'd heard about the resistance measuring thing but couldn't remember which brand did it. btw - I charge 4 x 4S 5000mAh in just over an hour - not too bad.

Help with Building a CineStar 8 (& Copters in General)

My thinking on chargers is that the important capabilities are 1) to be able to charge in the field (i.e. from a car battery) and 2) being able to charge multiple packs at once. What I don't ever do myself is "fast charge" the packs - it definitely shortens their life (and you definitely don't...

Notwithstanding that the other replies are all valid, too :) - I just figured I didn't need to say it 'cos others were bound to :D

Help with Building a CineStar 8 (& Copters in General)

Hello everyone. My name is Brian and this is my first post here. I'm new to both this forums and multirotor copters in general. So, nice to meet you all. Hello :) I am a photographer and filmmaker. Recently in the world of cinematography, octocopters have become increasingly popular for aerial...

Heavy payload, batteries and motors dilema

Somebody else may have more direct experience with your setup and be able to offer advice. But until that happens I'd recommend using eCalc to get your answers. Start by reproducing your current setup, making sure it agrees with your experince, in terms of flight time and hover throttle. Then...

    Hoverfly strange power loss

You say that your octo never had this problem, so I'd be cataloguing the differences - mechanical, electronic, etc. - to identify possible culprits. Electronics can't work at too low temperatures any more than they can at too high temperatures. Two or three minutes into the flight something is...

Zero UAV ZeroUAV aerial photography quad

Unfortunately it is possible to patent just about anything these days - the system works on "issue now, argue in court later". But that's another discussion ;) The Ecilop chap is an odd type, for sure - a bit of a mad scientist (with a short attention span). When I first encountered him he...

Zero UAV ZeroUAV aerial photography quad

Zero appear to be one of those "dumber than most" outfits - they knock off the Eclilop design and then write "Steadicam" on it! Not sure if the Ecilop guy will have the resources to defend his patent - but Tiffen should be all over their asses for using that trademarked name! And whose original...

    Lateral play in motors

That depends if the clip is an E-type or a C-type (referring to the approximate outline of the clip, looking like the letter E or the letter C). The E-type is pushed on radially (i.e. from the side of the shaft). The C-type can be put on the same way, but better to use a pair of "circlip...

    Hoverfly is at the RNC

Meanwhile, in other "drone industry" news... the FAA is playing that old game of "Oh, they want information? Let's flood 'em!" - https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2012/07/faa-releases-thousands-pages-drone-records But the best is from Honeywell, describing the failsafe capabilities of their MAV...
