    Deans are killing my fingers!!!

Can't see from this angle - did the solder separate completely from the contact area, or is there some solder left on the contact area? i.e. did the solder itself break or did the solder lose its grip on the surface completely. If the solder broke, then I'd blame vibration. If the solder came...

    Deans are killing my fingers!!!

I agree - if your setup is working then there's no need to contemplate a change. But if you are having issues or starting from a blank sheet, I wouldn't recommend Deans ;) Connectors can come apart under the influence of vibration. This is a common problem with bullets, but other types are...

    Deans are killing my fingers!!!

Some more questions: (1) I have to ask - what's the shiny deposit around one of the battery connectors in the photographs? Is it something you applied or did that leach out of the connector/wire? (2) I'm guessing this rig pulls around 150A at full throttle - so that's certainly exceeding the...

    Deans are killing my fingers!!!

Hi Lifter - Is this just battery connections you want? How many and what size of batteries? What are they connecting to... a power distribution board, a soldered wiring harness? What motors, i.e. what will your peak amps be?

    lol :)

    Deans are killing my fingers!!!

I remember seeing that jig when it first came out. Not a great idea to use a metal clamp when you're soldering battery leads ;) - wood is a much better idea :)

    $11.99 for 10 pairs :D

    Deans are killing my fingers!!!

I understand all your defense - they work for you and you're obviously very skilled in using them. But I didn't say that Anderson's are the only thing that work :) I'm a very recent entrant to the RC world - never done anything but MRs. So I looked at the full range of available connectors and...

    Deans are killing my fingers!!!

Wow! I'm amazed that someone would come up with such an ingenious solution just to make a poor connector usable! ;) I just don't "get" Deans at all. Where's the advantage? What outstanding quality do they have that makes them worthwhile? Ease of soldering? No! Current carrying capability? No...

Cool :) - good, aren't they? keep spreading the word!

So there you go... cheaper and better :D (but don't forget you need to buy the crimper here or here)

Hoverfly Horizon off level after curved turns/banked turns

All is not lost - different tuning seems to make a big difference to this issue. It's all in the math. I've heard it suggested (but have no way to confirm it myself) that a simple complementary filter (rather than an EKF) may be better at keeping this bias out of the attitude estimate (from...

    S800 alternative props

I like this arm mod more than the applied tube idea - but if I was doing it myself I'd try it Rob's way - some 0.7mm CF plate bonded to top and bottom, or even perhaps 1-1.5mm strips bonded to the central rib and the edges so the truss openings remained clear. Tabb said something interesting in...

Hoverfly Horizon off level after curved turns/banked turns

I thought we were talking about the roll axis and its tendency to be get biased by linear accelerations of the airframe (like banked turns and rapid panning). This is, I believe, a mathematical problem based on the fact that the system can't distinguish between gravity and other accelerations...

Why would you want to heat your board? :cold:

    Deans are killing my fingers!!!

Much quicker to fit than any of the soldered types, so long as you get the proper crimping tool. So re-plugging all your batteries should only take a couple of hours, Kloner ;)

    Deans are killing my fingers!!!

Well, I only gave the Powerwerx link as an easy place to learn about the range. You can buy them from Mouser and many other electronics sources much cheaper, but you have to be familiar with the range to order the right individual parts. But I don't think one should be sensitive to price on...

    Deans are killing my fingers!!!

Or just use a better connector that doesn't have any of the problems that the Deans design has, and many advantages - like Anderson PowerPoles. :) http://www.powerwerx.com/anderson-powerpoles/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcLXn1zcB08 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o31iuOcQ-jo
