    Hoverfly gps results

Looks like I spoke too soon! After some great test flights in the back yard yesterday, I took my CS8 out for some filming this morning - not intendign to use gps at all. I noted a blue signal on the gps before taking off over a braided river and large pond. Unfortunately it soon became clear...

    Hoverfly gps results

Well after scaring myself one too many times flying farther away than I probably should, I decided to take the gps plunge. The install was not too bad, but I was sure cursing that two position dip switch that you invariably have to reset, especially now that it's hidden beneath the gps board...

Thanks guys, I decided to pass on flying the Red. Maybe someday...

    Hoverfly heavy lift job

I've been asked to fly a Red Epic. Anybody tried a heavy lift job with Hoverfly? I have a CS8 with Icelite 50 ESCs and QC 3328 motors at the moment. Suggestions? I'm leaning toward turning it down.

Hoverfly Crash - Need help figuring out why

From looking at your video it sure looks like your gain is too high. You can see the rapid twitching. I would recommend you take it down 10 points in AL and try that. I generally have the gain settings for AL and ML set the same. If the gain is too too low my hell looks and feels "wobbly" if...

Hoverfly Crash - Need help figuring out why

From the twitching in the video it does seem that the gain is too high. A friend kept upping the game to on his and it eventually caused a flip. I've had a similar flip and crash that I eventually attributed to a loose wire going into the board. Good luck!

    Hoverfly setting failsafes

Well it finally happened, I flew too far away and lost connection with my Spektrum DX8 (yeah, I know - not smart.) I had the failsafes set to AL and throttle set one percent below hover with the payload I always fly with. I assumed that if I lost signal the helicopter would hover slowly down...

Wow - that's terrific. Very stable and the horizon looks flat, not distorted like the older GoPro footage. Nice job!

    Hoverfly mysterious vibration

Okay, I am completely embarrassed to say that at last I discovered the problem. I loaned my Sony CX760 to a friend and he disabled the stabilization to shoot from a tripod. I feel so stupid for not thinking of that possibility. Apparently without the stabilization on the lens can jiggle...

    Hoverfly mysterious vibration

Thanks Bart. It has had a lot of use, so I might have just worn out the servos.

    Hoverfly mysterious vibration

One other thing I forgot to mention is that I tried adding more vibration o-rings on the mount, less vibration 0-rings and even no o-rings and the only thing I could conclude was that did not eliminate the vibration. The o-rings sure do help reduce vibration and it they seemed to work best when...

    Hoverfly mysterious vibration

Thanks everyone for the advice! I'll get started on the suggestions you've given and let you know if I find the problem.

    Hoverfly mysterious vibration

Thanks for these suggestions. I would say it is a high frequency vibration and it is definitely up and down. I tried lowering the gain almost completely on the tilt axis of the camera mount, but it didn't improve things. That's an interesting idea with the props. I'm currently using the APC 14...

    Hoverfly mysterious vibration

I have been struggling for about one month to get smooth video. I'm using the HFP with a Cinestar 8 and a Cinsestar two-axis gimbal as a single operator system with roll and tilt stabilization coming off the HoverflyPro board. The jiggle occurs in both auto-level and manual flight modes. The...

    Hoverfly trim change during flight

Yes, the change always occurs in the pitch axis. I'll try to swap ESCs and motors and see if that eliminates the problem - thanks!

    Hoverfly trim change during flight

Many flights later and trim is still changing during flight. I am working in the arctic, so the cold may be the problem. Temps around -5 F, but I have flown in the cold before and never experienced this effect.
