iam sort of in same boat. i was planin a 550 build. and do the same as you want to. then i seen the nightquad. not put me off the dji as of yet . as that NC is a sweet little setup but again as your askin not sure of the weight of a gimbel with a gp3 on it.. if it would handle it and stay...

if i remember . course lock is the setting that when you yaw left or right or forward so on .. nose stays pointed say north but controls work as they do form the control .. no matter how you standing ..

ok i see to use all the flight stuff on a naza you or looks like you need 2 . 3 postion switchs on your TX ?? is it a must to get them working or can you do it with say a DX6 or 7 ? that only have 1 3postion swtich.

why cut them at all . just clean the ends up lil sandpaper . and soilder them togther.. saves someone from damagin there esc.. and this way you can be sure the motors are spinning the right way ..
