If you have Emax GT Motors that say 2-3 cell... DONT plug um into 4 cell and rip it up..

I just wanted to go flying tomorrow but as I have a very limited stock of really old tired 3 cells I thought I would try fly my little Emax GT powered quad with my ample supply of 4 cell batteries.. lasted about 3 mins before it crashed and burnt.. Thank the lords for emergency beacons and low voltage warning alarms or I would have never found my quad but more importantly the WMK FC!

Guess my home made frame is now dead along with 4 motors.. Ho Hum.. At least I have the WMK450 to put it all on.. mm motors.. Hopefully the new TorxPower 2217/20 size will be here soon..

Guess Ill be in the shed AGAIN tomorrow instead of flying!

Dave, what emax GT motor is that??

Ross

Their the 2215/12 - 2 - 3 cell... I may have made a mistake in my first diagnosis and it may not have been the 4cells that killed my little quad motors but me!

What do you think I did not do?

It has given me incentive to swap stuff over so here we go.. as you can tell her indoors is away so I got the kitchen for the weekend!

What do you think I did not do?

did you mistakenly put pancake syrup on them while getting your breakfast plate assembled yesterday? no?

is there a number-of-cells setting somewhere that you didn't adjust for the four cell packs?

are you standing on your kitchen table in that picture? i see toes.

i have been using 2215/12 and 2215/9 on 4s for at least 2 months without problems.. never got above 40°C..
looking at the remains of your quad it didn't seem that heavy to put too much load on motors..
