Rubber grommet/carbon fiber trick?

Looking for the trick that is apparently escaping me. I'm trying to slide some braces (with rubber grommets) off some carbon fiber tubes - and MAN, they don't want to come. I've tried soapy water, silicone spray. Even tried a hair of heat.

At this point I need the sure-fire trick.

What'd'ya got???

try slipping something between the tube and rubber to help break the "stuck".... like small screw driver, work the tip around the tube to break it free, then your lube will help slide it off....

Thanks Kloner. I knew you would have the trick :) Your post arrived as I was holding a small screwdriver in my hand....menacingly!

BTW: anyone else who might find themselves wrestling with this issue. Baby powder doesn't work either. In fact I tried to be fancy and use "Monkey Butt" which motorcycle riders will recognize. Powder was the worst attempt of the bunch.

Getting the CF tubes back through the grommets with silicone spray worked a charm .

I highly suggest NOT mixing up silicone spray and monkey butt next time you go for a bike ride.... :)
