New DJI need help getting motors started

I have a new DJI WK-M system coupled with a F-450 Flame Wheel and for the life of me cant seem to get the motors to start. I have not calibrated the compass might this be holding me back? I want to get this bird in the air in the worst way.

Have you setup a three possition switch for atti/gps - Atti - manual then executed the (CSC) combined stick command? See page 17 of the wookong manual for instructions

Calibration of the compass wont affect motors starting up .
Have you checked all TX controls are going the right way ? and carried out the Tx calibration ?
Throttle should go from Far left to Far right on the TX screen .
Rudder when push right on the stick should move from center to right .
Elevator when push up on the stick it should move center to right
And Aileron from center to right when push right .
Also check the copter is not in failsafe , so make sure your 3 way switch is selecting all modes , Manual , Atti , And Gps Atti .. and they are highlighted when selected.
Once this is done and the copter is unplugged from the usb , but do first tests without props on .. Push both sticks down and to the centre to arm the motors .

Hope you get in the air soon :)

Geoff I believe my problem is in the way I have the 3-way switch set up. When I move the switch to the lowest position I see fail safe displayed in the lower right hand corner of the assistant. In the center position I see attitude and in the up position I see fail safe once again.

All sticks work as they should with the correct travel in assistant

Buzzed, set the ATTI or center position first by adjusting your sub trim. Then adjust the end points to get Manual and ATTI/GPS. The positions need to be high lighted as well as showing the proper readout on the lower right corner of Assistant.

Yes as ED says put 3 way switch in middle first then sub trim it so it highlights Atti , then move switch to top position and then adjust with Travel adjust or EPA to light up Manual or Gps Atti ... Then do same for bottom Position.
You will need to use both sub trim and End point Adjust to get all 3 highlighted when selected.

Once this is done check voltage , because they come pre set quite conservative so can trigger voltage protection too early .

Thanks for the help guys I now appear to be a little closer. This DJI platform is completely new to me.

I seem to now have the GPS Attitude/Attitude/Manual now reading properly. Shouldn't I see the MC Output as On to start motors?

Buzzed, you cannot arm the motors while connected to the Assistant. No motor test like in MKTools. I assume that you have the props off. After you disconnect Assistant from your WKM, repower and arm the motors using CSC. The motors will stop in 3 sec if you do not increase the throttle to greater than 10%.

Boy do I have a lot to learn. Followed your advice Ed and got a motor start. YES!

Guess I better set up the radio for fail-safe and the battery warning before adding the props and making a maiden flight.

Thanks guys a bunch.

Naw, you are doing fine. Lots of stuff to learn and remember as you move between different platforms. I just updated my MK and didn't remember that you had to calibrate the gyros to get the gimbal to work. Stupid mistake on my part but a reminder of how many little things we need to remember. Let us know how your maiden flight goes.

Bob I just took the quad out in the front yard and flew it for the 1st time. The winds here are moderate with gusts and I gotta say this is a really stable platform even using default settings. I didn't even calibrate the compass yet the quad did a good job of maintaining its position. I whimped out when it came to testing the failsafe maybe I'll get enough courage to try it later today. I'm impressed and smiling from ear to ear.

Very cool! Glad you are enjoying it. I went out a flew my F450 and F550 with my MK today. DJI is still the winner in my opinion. But I am going to try and tweak the MK for GPS and PH to see if I can improve the performance.
