If it helps I am logged in. But every time I return it says NEW POSTS where there are none. Hope this helps to track the problem down.

to be honest, i'm a bit mystified by the New Posts notifications but I spent so much time drawing (actually the time was spent trying to figure out how to draw with Illustrator) that little icon that i've given up trying to guess the algorithms behind what puts it there. I think the site software is database driven for the new posts icons so it looks at what is new for you specifically and goes by that. if you're not logged in then the new posts will be screwed up. if you're logged in though it should jive with what is new or old according to where you've been in the site.
i'll take another look at it when i can and maybe see if i've got something set incorrectly.
