F450, NAZA & GPS a few months in

Had my F450 with NAZA and GPS an Graupner 10" props for over 3 months now and have been doing a fair bit of flying. However still get some annoying issues:

  • Still get a yaw (rotation) clockwise after take off and copter continues to yaw slowly
  • GPS, hardly ever get a full GPS lock so flying so not sure if RTH really works

Tried loads to fix the yaw, NAZA placement, weight distribution, moved the motors around on the arms, nothing makes a difference.
As for the GPS I've done RTH one when I managed to get full GPS lock but concerned about doing when I still get two or more red lights.

Any tips for the above?

Have you done a successful compass calibration? and do you get slow flashing green LED in GPS mode?
Do you have the magnetic variation offset on your sensor head?

what are the gains in auto pilot in assistant set to? the 10" slofly props are synonomous with that... but you can up the yaw gain to 130-140 and it should mostly go away.....

when you calibrate the radio in assistant, if the green bar shakes that can cause this too. throttle to middle stick when you hit finish is iportnat to it...... no throttle trim, the slider next to throttle, that can screw with yaw...

yes you will, they all do to fly stright when you push straight, calibration clears up them flashes like your talking about, usually

Will try that.

I have seen the green bar shake, using a DX8. will try moving back to the middle and finish the calibration

3.46° with me, I dont get a solid hold without a slightly larger offset, but its tight as hell with.

i don't know how to figure out what that number is, but my gps puck sits 15 degrees offset from the nose and it is flawless at holding. it doesn't move more than a couple feet side to side and when in gps mode, it flies as straight as an arrow..... but calibrating, do it alot and often. anytime i change anything, takes less than a minute......

For your interest Kloner.

Can be tricky getting it into calibration mode, tried for ages, cant rightly remember what I did in the end, I think it was down to the speed of switching and starting on GPS, Man my memory sucks, I should write stuff down!!:shame:

so mine is

Magnetic declination: 1° 31' WEST
Declination is NEGATIVE

so is that very slightly pointing 1-2 degrees clockwise or anti-clockwise?
