Charge more than one LIPO

Hi Steven,

The 6.6Ah is just an example of what you need to have to charge 3x 2200mah packs at "full speed". For example charging rate of 1C (that is most recommended) is different on 3000mah and 5000mah batteries. 3000mah means 3Ah at 1C.

The charger and parallel board is a good combo, you just plug it in the 6S balance port. The parallel board evenly charges on all ports, so that if you connect 4x 3000mah, which has a 1C of 12Ah, it will still only charge 6Ah. Half charging rate of what the batteries are capable of. Perfecty safe, and faster than charging one by one. One battery at a time (3000mah) could only charge at 3Ah. Half of what your charger is capable of, so parallel charging is often faster, depending on what battery capacities you are working with.

your 50 watt charger wouldn't be much help adding to it's load. even a 250 watt isn't really enough to have spare change to do more than 1 pack at a time........ 500 watt, 1000 watt, then it's the only way to fly

Cheers for the link folks. I am a little ignorant regarding chargers. Where can I find info on what is a good setup for my needs? All those chargers seen very expensive. Why are chargers so expensive?

All I have at the moment is 4 4s batteries. 8000 & 6000mah. In the future I would like to charge maybe 6 4s 8000mah at the same time quickly.

Aye Up homer911. I see you are in the UK.. give paul a ring at www.electricwingman.co.uk .. Tell him I gave you his contact. He has a great range of chargers to suit budget and requirement.

Great service. Let us know what he recommends. I got a 1200w Chargery power supply. I use it fon a quadpower charger that charges 4 packs at a time when I am travelling around and I have a CellPro 8 with 6 pack board for real good battery conditioning. For travelling abroad I use a Graupner mains charger, light weight and powerful enough when charging is not to much of a rush.

Keep in mind that any charger that claims to be able to charge two batteries at one time but with only one charging port, will have to do the two batteries in series. Regardless whether it has two balance ports or not, that type of charger can only push a common current through both batteries such that they cannot be equalized. And stacking a 2nd identical charger to that with a data link to do parallel charging just doubles the cost of your already expensive charger.

if your using good cells there is no risk of anything, if you start beating up your packs, parralel charging is a pain to keep together. the same chargers made for charging a butt load of packs at a time also have an internal resistance meter, that makes quick easy work of identifying chapped packs
