    Hoverfly Hoverfly pro green board

LOL :) I have been away since selling the last of my HF products and decided to check back here for announcements on a ground station. The HF software is like magic indeed. It takes a while to PID up another copter to get close and one needs a fast processor to do it. I was not able to get...

    Hoverfly HF vs Xaircraft

From a sociology of business viewpoint, it is very interesting to watch how the users evolve when a company decides not to have a presence in its own online community support forum.

So are repeatable waypoints. Rehearsing an autonomous run over and over and bearing able to concentrate on gimbal work is pretty useful.

    Hoverfly Something Big?

I just have the gutted prototype here at the shop, the final is being used in HI by a graduate research team. I'll look through the build photos (more than a year ago) and find some interior shots for ya...

It floated for two weeks in one instance! Good thing for waterproof P-Touch labels... :)

    Hoverfly Something Big?

Thanks man! The trick was ESC thermal management in dead air. If I did it again, I'd incorporate a small DC fan to keep air moving inside the box. It was designed for sea bird research and can land and take off from smooth ocean. it can float and record for hours, flight time is 10 minutes.

I took a short cut... :) Not the best flyer but it was a quick build.

    Hoverfly Something Big?

I am in Albuquerque at the TAAC conference. The rules will probably require a FAA ground school equivalent. Pilot proficiency testing is not high up on the agenda.

    Hoverfly Something Big?

I agree Ken... HoverFly Pro/GPS is unique in its inability to provide reliable GPS and Ben's excuse falls flat to any reasonable Multicopter hobbyist, system integrator or engineer.... Those of us that moved here on Al's request know that the "user to user forum" excuse is disingenuous at best.

    Hoverfly Something Big?

Fair enough... My negative personal interactions with Al Ducharme probably color the way I see this issue. Since I only have one board left and do not intend to patronize HoverFly Tech in the future, I'll refrain from future comment. No hard feelings... Just time to move on... jeffparisse

    Hoverfly Something Big?

This seems to be a redux of QuadPowered history for those that remember HoverFly's humble beginnings. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Great solution. A safe method is to remove just the center section of the heat shrink with a hobby knife so that it retains the original AL heatsink that is affixed to the rows of FETs. Silver epoxy a copper chip cooling heatsink (Oxide sells some great ones - for cooling chips on PS3, etc.) and...

The maximum length of battery wires is based on the manufacturer. Castle Creations designs their capacitor suppression for 12" wires. One can offset long battery wires with more capacitance but keeping them as short as possible is the best design route. Thermal dissipation and cooling are...

    Hoverfly Something BIG coming soon!

Not to mention the fact that EVERY ESC manufacturer cautions against short motor wires and long battery wires. Adding battery wire length adds inductance which increases switching spikes on the FET rails. That why capacitors are added to the battery side of the ESC. The three motor wires can be...
