I've been having success just using a hand warmer strapped to the convertor while travelling and if I have to wait between flights I just stick it on again, small amount of hassle but no problems since I started doing this. Roll on summer!

Personally i wouldn't bother with the toad, certainly makes life easier but I found the flying footage I get when I've taken the toad off is much better.

How hot do the motors get? I haven't noticed any noticeable heat on my S900.

Think it's slower than ever at the moment, I had some changes in on 4th of Feb and nothing back yet. Doesn't really effect me being able to operate but quicker would be better!

It's not a speedy process unfortunately and they seem busier than ever at the mo. I could be wrong but don't you still need to submit a ops manual and complete a flight test on your machines to gain a PFAW regardless of your qualifications.?

Oh and I'd say the footage is as good as the zen when the zen is playing nicely with the added bonus of better horizon on the movi.

Mines very good especially now I've ditched the toad ' hole, getting much better stiffness and no wobbles which I was getting when flying into into wind. I would say you wouldn't need to stabilise what I'm getting now. Just bought some longer tubes for the cage to see about using an Epic with it.

Silky smooth Jack. Particularly like the bit when the North Berwick (my home town) rowing skiff is in the lead!

I'd update the camera too, it's dealt with some of the HDMI output issues I've had with the GH4 when connecting to some Blackmagic boxes so seems to be a bit more standard compliant.

I reckon you're onto something with the temperature timtim, very similar experience to me on cold days, worked fine indoors but no good outside. And it seemed to get worse as winter came on, however since I've updated the GH4 to latest firmware and changed the Zen HDMI cable all has been well...

I use the Zoar precision pairs on my Skyjib. Nice and stiff and fairly quick to balance but delicate and effected by humidity which can ruin your balance. Pete

I find myself and others usually over estimate the wind speed , as you say 12mph feels pretty windy, especially in the winter. I'm often surprised how low the reading on my anemometer is. When my light weight monitor tripod falls over it's time to go home!
