Thanks for the info Bart. To balance, are you sanding or adding tape? If sanding, which side? Thanks, Shawn

    Time to try a Y6

Well good news! I know you probably are, but are you running the latest firmware on the HFP? Shawn Edit: Stacky beat me to it!

    Time to try a Y6

I am using the Pulso 2814/22's that I took off the X8 and going to try APC12x3.8 first on 3s and 4s. Hopefully I'll get to it this weekend and be able to provide more details soon. On my X8 the bottom motors always run about that much hotter too. If I slow down the bottom motors they don't run...

    Time to try a Y6

Hey Ken, Thanks! I never considered the first option for some reason, but it is certainly the easiest and now that I think about it really shouldn't be an issue when using the four bolts instead of two on each side. That will be my approach if/when I decided to switch the landing gear between...

    Time to try a Y6

I would be interested in how you would go about this. I am in the process of doing pretty much the same build (or rebuild of hexa -> Y6) and the 6.5" center plates are just a bit too short for the DW landing gear to attach via their mounting brackets. I was thinking to shift the landing gear...

MK FPV Heavy-lift X8 using standard ESC's and Futaba TX/RX

Well I never achieved love with tuning. I am also still having troubles with my Xbee setup, the copter side Xbee keeps reseting itself for some reason. I have to hook it up to the copter and write the saved settings from the computer side Xbee to it and then it starts working again. I have sent...

MK FPV Heavy-lift X8 using standard ESC's and Futaba TX/RX

Well I am still trying to tune the X8 but it is getting better. I am now flying apc13x4 props on top and 13x6.5 on bottom, both at the same speed. I received my Xbee setup today from quadcopters.us and hooked them up with no problem. Until, I went to permanently mount the onboard Xbee and...

MK FPV Heavy-lift X8 using standard ESC's and Futaba TX/RX

Hey Mike, Sorry I missed you post. I usually get them from whoever I can find the cheapest and in stock. the last ones I got were from http://www.allerc.com/. Shawn

    Programming ESC's for I2C/PWM converter

With my RCTimer 30A esc's I first had them at medium timing and there was some clicking at min. gas. I upped the timing to high and it went away. At some point I will set them back to medium and see if there is any difference in flight times and temps. Shawn

Building a Mikrokopter a' la carte (from parts, no MK kit purchase)

Hey Bart, I noticed both + and - loops of your power harness are connected (complete circle). I was informed a while back that this can cause noise in the power lines. The best way to eliminate the noise is to not have the negative complete the circle. On one of my hexa's I had it make a...

MK FPV Heavy-lift X8 using standard ESC's and Futaba TX/RX

So I tried messing with Gyro-D by lowering it to 8 and then 6. The copter flew much better and I could not detect the wobble at 6, but the copter felt a little less responsive than I like. So I finally balanced all the APC13x6.5 props and put them on. A HUGE IMPROVEMENT! It is a bit windy but I...

MK FPV Heavy-lift X8 using standard ESC's and Futaba TX/RX

Hi Bart, I have the lower motors running about 10% faster than the top which I thought alleviated the need to run different pitch. I guess I should look into this more. I seem to have plenty of power as it hovers around 45-50% throttle. I am going to go ahead and put the 13" props on and see...

MK FPV Heavy-lift X8 using standard ESC's and Futaba TX/RX

Need help tuning my MK X8 to get rid of oscillation/wobble Have done several flights now and having trouble tuning my X8 copter when fully loaded. When I fly with one battery and default settings it flies very well and stable. When I add the second battery it then has a slight...

MK FPV Heavy-lift X8 using standard ESC's and Futaba TX/RX

Thanks Dave. I have the throttle curve setup but just wanted to make sure before I flipped the switch. I also have 30% expo setup on a switch too. Here is the link for the dampers, if it doesn't take you directly to the page go to page 1367. http://www.mcmaster.com/#vibration-dampers/=d04h69...

Mikrokopter Parameter (mainly PID?) tuning for windy conditions and a min gas question

By calibrating channels do you mean making sure they go to -125/+125 and are 0 in the center? If so, yes. I am running the latest firmware (i believe its .84a). BTW - I am super sorry to hear about your accident! I hope the misses understands. Thanks, Shawn

Mikrokopter Parameter (mainly PID?) tuning for windy conditions and a min gas question

I don't know what it is called either, I would think it could certainly be done. This behavior occurs whether altitude is on or off, it is a horizontal drift. Altitude hold actually works very well. It pretty much just sticks to the ceiling when I hit the switch, even in some wind. I do have the...

MK FPV Heavy-lift X8 using standard ESC's and Futaba TX/RX

So I got to do several flights this morning in little to no wind. If you have seen my other post about wind settings then you know I am not happy with how it drifts so much in the wind. I now realize it is the auto-leveling that is allowing this to happen. When I flew the X8 with the HFP board I...

Mikrokopter Parameter (mainly PID?) tuning for windy conditions and a min gas question

After a couple more flights this morning in little to no wind it hit me why I was seeing this wind drift that was much more pronounced than when flying with HFP board. AUTO-LEVEL!! Duh! The MK is trying to keep itself level and therefore can't find the wind. I rarely flew in auto-level with the...
