Which is most stable video platform for a Hexa - Y or 6 point ?

For me the flat hexa format seemed more rigid and stable. Y6 seemed a little more loose or "floaty" to me. This is with Hoverfly and MK boards. In the end I think I preferred the Y6 because of redundancy comforts and the "floaty" feel.

    Photohigher's Gracious Gimbal Giveaway!

Well, for the shot I want to use it is just so much easier to have someone else take it vs. setting up a tripod with timer or intervalometer. And in the end there's not a whole lot of difference in my opinion between a camera on a tripod firing a pic every 5 seconds and someone standing in the...

    Photohigher's Gracious Gimbal Giveaway!

29th is good but I am fine if an extension is needed for others too. So, just for clarification on my end, do we have to take the picture of ourselves with copter or can it be taken by someone else? Shawn

    Photohigher's Gracious Gimbal Giveaway!

Are there any rules for the title or description? Will you include a title and description? My vote would be to allow a title and maximum 2 sentence description? What do the rest of you think, should we just let the photo speak for itself? Shawn

    How important is redundancy?

Thanks, those were some scary moments. I feel much better now days knowing that I at least have a chance. I really like the RC-Carbon frame but I definitely had some problems with it and they do have some cosmetic issues since it is hand-made for the most part. The original motor mounts were...

Droidworx MK Gear rail brackets, CNC ALUMINUM, Replace the weak plastic ones

Hey Guys, I just got some of these from Patrick and they look super nice! I will be putting them on my current build. Think I might order another set at back up. Shawn

Prop mounts on QCs Torx tigers etc.

Strange I don't have this problem with these motors. I do like Bart says holding the motor bell while tightening. For the lower props on coax setup the mount will touch each of the blades so I just use an aluminum washer between the prop and mount. Not sure what size washer I use but it is a...

What is the I2C Octo Isolator

I have to agree with Bart and your response, more connections definitely equals more points of failure. This is one of the reasons I got rid of my Futaba TX/RX and went to the MX-20. With Futaba I had to use a pwm-ppm converter between rx and FC. Between signal translation and many many...

Thanks llbr22! Those are a great start (especially the video) but I still want to hear from users about their settings when flying. Help us out guys! Thanks, Shawn

Panasonic Lumix GH2 video settings, what do you use? I need help.

I was going to install the new firmware after seeing Jeff's video with it but haven't done so yet. It would be nice to get some feedback from others on what they would do! Shawn

Panasonic Lumix GH2 video settings, what do you use? I need help.

Hey everyone. I am curious of the GH2 settings used by others for video from their copters. I can get it to take great pictures but I am just not happy with the video I am getting. It would be great if someone would even provide a little tutorial of what they do. I need to know things like if...

Heavy Lift Y6 Ready-To-Fly w/HoverflyPro FC and Futaba T10 plus many extras

Here are some pics with the Droidworx extended landing gear and AV130 mounted to the extra plate. I included the MK gear and gimbal that come with it for size comparison. The DW gear and gimbal are not included in the sale.

Heavy Lift Y6 Ready-To-Fly w/HoverflyPro FC and Futaba T10 plus many extras

Nope, not special and yes they are powered directly from 4s battery. The old LED's I would get from HK would blow on 4s but the new ones I now get run fine on 4s even though they say they are only rated to 12v. Thanks, Shawn

Heavy Lift Y6 Ready-To-Fly w/HoverflyPro FC and Futaba T10 plus many extras

I finally shot a video yesterday from the copter. I had changed the bottom props to APC 13x6.5 thin electrics based on a user’s research in the Hoverfly forum. It had the 12x3.8 slow fliers on top. I was running two nano-tech 4s 4500mah in parallel. I had the gopro set on r3 and was mounted on a...

    PC or Mac?

I have to disagree with the photography part of this statement. My wife is a professional photographer and we know several other pro photographers and all use Mac. I don't know about the video side of things. Shawn

    PC or Mac?

For the longest time I used a mac. Then when I started to do a lot more GIS and molecular work I went with a PC because more programs ran on those than the mac and I had access to plenty of macs at school. I loved my PC (17" Dell XPS laptop, yeah its a gaming computer but also worked great for...

What lipo batteries do you use?

The turnigy nano-techs have been really good to me. I balance charge them pretty much every time. The one thing I do notice is that I have had to set my lipo alarm at a higher voltage than I ever did on my hexa's with zippy batteries. When I first tried to use the standard setting of like 3.3v...
