DJI come out top on after sales

As most of you know I had a problem with a S800 and it got wet in the sea. Sent it all back and without any questions asked it came back fully repaired. We have an important shoot organised by Russian President and the Chinese rose to the occasion and got it all done straight away so we could...

Two clients want me to fly their RED EPIC cameras - advice?

If I had to risk my investment on the chances of a high quality servo failure against a HobbyKing ESC I know what I would choose. I think the whole idea of open plan MR electronics throughout the entire control system just about sums up the level of development that has gone into this. It is a...

    Cinestar 8 size

Absolutely right to the point on that one. However you are one of the few out there who knows and understand the limitations of MR's and have capitalized on that by making some nice stuff that works. BUT the underlying fact is that you also know as well as I do, that when it comes to lifting...

I just shot this with my iphone strapped to my blade mqx. amazing!

All high quality stuff will play back at better quality if don't select HD. The compression is what makes it jump/strobe. The data rate is just too slow unless you download the HD file. A lot of that is probably stock footage.

Two clients want me to fly their RED EPIC cameras - advice?

We have a few Logos in Cyprus flying 3D, They are very good at what they were designed to do. That frame does not lend itself well to conversion for mounting a decent camera mount. IMHO. I see only disadvantages with no real advantages. Nice machines though. The difference in efficiency between...

Two clients want me to fly their RED EPIC cameras - advice?

The electric heli is the most efficient conversion of electrical power into lift. Unless one has a problem flying a large heli with something like a Wookong H or a SkooKum flybarless controller. (which has a position hold that is at least as good as any MR) Then the underlying question is WHY...

Motor vibrating but not turning, is it dead?

Could be a dry solder joint on one of the phases. or overheated Pad on the ESC

The servo noise is always there even with 1.1.7 It needs a low pass filter on the output to the servo (V.ref return). i.e. the circuit that mimics the servo pot. Although the practice of placing the IMU on a final axis can work to a reasonable accuracy it is not considered the best option...

I have mine working with a DYDrones AMP-2 Fc board mounted on the camera base plate, which has some nice camera outputs. I also changed the elastic band reduction drive to the tilt and replaced that servo with a di-pole stepper motor with a micro stepped driver which can resolve a blisteringly...

Just wanted to share this with you guys!

Go pro will only work properly on Zen if you have it balanced correctly in all axis...

Chris I faithfully reproduced your wiring harness and what I am seeing is exactly the same as I was getting before with my own version that does more or less the same thing accept it takes separate 1500 us signals to the servos rather than just splitting the one from the tilt. No way can I get...

I am tempted to say, some are easily pleased. Those two items should go together quite well. (Joke)... Line up the longest edge of the frame with a door etc. and watch it go from pincushion to barrel distortion as you zoom it. But about six years ago you could not give one away because most...

The 24-70L was a dog compared to the earlier one. It just is not sharp compared to a prime. the 24-36 was however a stunning lens.

Chris that seems to be working quite well for you. However it is not a AV130 which has the IMU at the other end. This is were the trouble starts as you have to dampen the feedback. It could also be that your servos have a different amp. board inside.

Panasonic GH2 and Sony CX730 comparison

Yeah, a useful contribution. I have waited to see something else come along and as yet I don't see it. My new camera will be a 5D 111 with a 40mm lens. and yes I can get it into a modified Zen. I have simulated the weight and it is OK, the rest is just some CNC work to produce a few new parts.

Right on. They can't walk yet and here they are trying to run. They should throw the towel in and give us back our money. Before the Lawyers get stuck in. If it gets that far I wont be taking any prisoners.... They have had a reasonable amount of time to rectify the problem and they have failed...

Well that pan is far to slow to be of use to anyone. The fact remains that to get the tilt working correctly it needs a dampener to stop oscillation when the gains are set to the required level. Even with three separate power supplies there is noise on the V.ref return line to the servo amp...

WHY or perhaps the question should be WHY NOT

It is a simple to understand fact that the high end SR 3D helis do not fail in the air. This is due to the intensive R&D that has been done over the years. The single ESC is a work of art and very expensive. Yet it runs the motor at a constant speed. That speed can be changed to avoid harmonic...

WHY or perhaps the question should be WHY NOT

Is it the seemingly easy way to get into hovering without all that heli hassle, or is it the sheer fun that one gets from building one, maybe it's the challenge of designing your own and against all odds seeing it fly. Wow one could even put a camera on one. yeah, Why not, I could even start a...
