    Just had a hail storm

You want someone to throw stuff at your multi... bring it on :) I've just been giving the hex a work-out on the lawn between thunderstorms, rain and 50km gusts. Love it :)

Some days despite the gales... you just have to show off to visitors :) I've just done a hop with the hex (with 700g of ballast) on the lawn. It handled it really well. So did I ;) It also acted as a leaf mulcher much better than the tri! Sorry - no (uploadable) video but my mate recorded...

Thanks. I have a proper look later. I'm after a stills platform 1st. That is what I need as my primary AP business. Movies are a completely different world...

I tested the hex again tonight. I changed the 10x3.8 props to 10x4.5 (rctimer) and 10x4.7 APC. I carried a 600g load and a 750g load with the 3S 6600mA combo battery. I liked it. I didn't have time to put the wattmetter on it yet. It flew well and handled the swirling wind ok. 12x4.5 will be too...

    Time to design a contest!

I think a compilation of failures at the end of your video is essential :D A basic flying skill test is good as it is fair for us tri-flyer and quads (or bigger). Can we use a non-sliding surface on the table? Do the props need to stop on the table (to prevent a slide and go) or a slide 'n...

    Time to design a contest!

@matwelli Nah... a big table :D Copter fishin sounds cool - with hooks not magnets. Since we all need to video our performance, I think a 60-90 second limit. I spend too much time looking at videos online already -aviation ones... get your mind out of the gutter! ;) Timed race? How...

    Time to design a contest!

I like both the egg and the bounce / circle ideas. The latter would be a good skill builder. Pete

The are atmega boards and compatible to all kk type firmware downloads. They sell the lcd programmer for it or you can use the AVR-usb loader. Postage is up there but 3 boards for approx $110... it is worth a play.

www.multircshop.com They are in Singapore. There thread is here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1445151 I'm going to give them a try. Small $... as for the weight debate on the Hex. I was a little surprised to see the usual flying weight of a DW hex to be 4-5Kg. Pete

Overview time... a time for 1st flight reflections... Time to compare my Hex Mk2 to the RollsRoyce of frames... the Droidworx ADX-6 HeavyLifta. DW frame is 720g. Add 6 motors at 75g each (450g). Add esc's, 6 x 22g (130g). Total: 1300g. Add wire and props... another 200g. I'm only...

At least the testing and building doesn't cost a lot :) I'll do some load testing on the hex as these are new motors using 10x3.8 and 10x4.7's and... well... I have a spare hex on the floor. With my requirements for payload only being a 300g camera / DVC (+ rx, batt, servos and downlink) I...

I don't know how much I'll save by moving the esc's onto the booms. I'll do some calculations. I really wanted to try and make the square ali work. Round tubes are a pain in the butt. Extra clamps all add weight and complexity. I'm not mad on carbon with straight fibres, not weave...

We shoot two-up for all commercial shoots with the heli. I fly, Helen can pan 30-deg each way and tilt while looking at a 12" screen on a tripod. Helen also looks out for traffic (as does daughter for busy shoots), swats flies away from my face and talks to the public while I concentrate on...

No I don't have a cc board yet. I'm not too pushed about one yet as there is a huge amount of design and build needed for the u/c and camera mount. This is where I get "project creep"... what starts out simple ends up a stabilized 360 deg rotating work of art... or not!

800 doesn't seam big now... It flies - test-hopped in a gale this afternoon. I'm using 10x3.8 APCs but I'll change to 10x4.7 before the next test. A small video to edit after tea... 1.6Kg empty, 2.2kg with batteries... damn that's heavy! There is no nice way to hide 500g of wire and esc's...

@Rocky... if you need 6 rctimer esc's in a hurry, I have them spare. PM me or email me (my forum name @gmail.com) Hunting for tube became a mission last Friday. I have 10 and 12mm round tube (which looks great when used) but the square is just so easy to use. No extra brackets or alignment...

I'll stick to the wingnut system at this stage. The progress so far is good. Very sturdy. I have a long way to go before I need to start thinking about compass sensors. I'll get this built this week I hope. I am waiting for HK to send what I paid for a week ago... 'cause there are some...

but the new Minsoo Kim board has magnetic sensors... I have the arms attached with wingnut bolts. Motors are now mounted but I don't feel like soldering a million wired tonight. I have esc's all mounted on a panel like pieces of cooling toast on the top rear of the central hub. I might...

I don't mind ;) It's a change from camping in your corner. Guys - I presume the new boards with accelerometers and gyros and gpq and magnet compasses won't like my magnetic folding arm system? So - how many flew over 90 minutes air time this weekend without crashing? I even pushed it with...
