That will get you going. It will always come down to $$$. I have had a great run from a similar setup. Once I started carrying payload that mattered (more than a Gopro), I upgraded the motors to something a bit better.
Link away. I did it to share - and to show that this is fun :)
The prop choice is significant here. So many are going for wide blade props yet testing across 3 of my machines show the value of narrow props in the wind.

I wasn't picking on you guys! I know how busy you have been.
The manual was great. I was just concerned that blank pages make people think that they were missing out on something! The machine was a dream to build and it rocks :D
I appreciated the parts... especially since I was being...
My quad (flown line-of-sight and needing a rebuild...) got tortured after work today.
A quick flight before the rain hits. No it is not as smooth as Juz but it will fly smoother after a rebuild (it kept yawing on hard climbs. All mounts are bent!)
18mm pine frame.
KK2 board
Gopro2...
5 Kg will handle the wind well.
I put my new diy gimbal on the VM-6 with RX100 camera yesterday but I left the servos disconnected until I solder a ubec for them. I am using the gimbal control from the HoverFly Pro FC and I will not run the servos direct... just in case one stalls. I am...
Nick - I presume from your "(other than octo + gimbal stabilizer which is pus anyway)" comment, the gimbal control is crap! Are you using a separate gimbal controller?
Pete
Thanks Nick... it does look good.
So want doesn't it do compared to the X6 is probably the best way to ask? Just trying to get my (shift-work tired) head around the options. I didn't know they existed until last week ;)
Pete
I got the first VM out of the shop so I gave recommendations for the manual as well as photos / diagrams of my alterations (I write technical manuals and train techie staff in my full-time telecomms job). I hope they do make changes but they were really busy with the new range and there were a...
Looks too simple!
I look fwd to seeing the features. As I said, waypoints are not a biggee for me but a solid position-hold would be great so I could solo shoot. Not fussed about RTH etc, I like to fly / be in control ;)
Pete
I like the orientation of the X6. This is an option on the XM-6... just not a "factory" option for the VM-6.
The VM-6 (+) & VM-8 (+) u/c attaches to long bolts under the front and rear arm boom clamps. The VM-4 X-quad has additional aluminium stand-outs that go between the two center hub...
Thanks Rob.
I'll sit back and watch the first few fly... I suspect I'm better going for the X6 (if I choose a gps system). I already have a good FC with gimbal control with two Hoverflys but a reliable position-hold would make solo shooting easier. The paperwork involved (legal business...
Hi guys.
I've been a Hoverfly guy for a while but I've been watching the YS-X6 with interest. I don't need a fully-featured controller... I presume the X4 is a cut-down version? I can't find anything about it online? Any help or info?
Cheers, Pete
