    Sony Nex-5n - downlink

Just to clarify for those looking for a working setup, here is my complete setup for downlink with a Sony NEX5n. (wiring photos for converter at the bottom of post). HUGE thanks to MombasaFlash for helping and posting about this converter hack. Not sure who found it first but thanks to them as...

    PH AV130 size

~212mm wide and height depends on how low the tray is... in center position it's 180mm and you can drop it another 15mm or so.

HAHAHA!!! Turns out that was a very important resistor! I actually found it on my benchtop after hunting in search pattern rows for 5 minutes, soldered it hamfisted back on... and POW! VIDEO! So stoked. Nice clear video too. YES! Thanks again for that photo and checking the resistor. I can't...

Yeah I'm paying you good money here! I expect prompt replies. :shame: Thanks for the photo. So your's is working perfectly fine with a NEX-5n on the downlink at 4.3v eh? Hm. I bet that stupid resistor is in my carpet somewhere! haha. must have gotten bumped off... awesome shoddy soldering job on...

    Sony Nex-5n - downlink

Only thing I can think of at this point is that I fried the converter board somehow while hacking it... which is unlikely but possible. OR... that the board isn't getting enough amps. I can't imagine it would pull more than 500mA, which is the spec max on the MacBook Pro USB port I was testing...

No converter is the only thing left in the chain I can think of that I can't eliminate ATM. It plugged straight to fatsharks did NOT work ... Wasn't clear about that. Need to figure out another power source to test it with, but pretty sure Mac USB provides more than enough. Oh and voltage from...

    Sony Nex-5n - downlink

Cable works (tested with nex5n and tv), tx and fatsharks work with go pro, cable I made for converter to tx works (tried with gopro), tried fat sharks plugged straight into converter eliminaring the entire Tx circuit and that was a no go, and tried that powered with USB cable coming from Mac...

    Sony Nex-5n - downlink

Got the NEX5n, hdmi cable, converter, tx etc all wired up and I get nothing but a gray screen on my fat sharks. Here's some shots of the wiring. Video to center lug on Video out, +5v coming from ImmersionRC 600mw Tx, ground to casing of USB socket... Any ideas? This is how your's is setup...

Awesome story. That takes major balls to fly one of those in conditions like that. It's funny (and apologies for the OT here say the word and I'll take it private thread starter)... I keep telling everyone since just getting into this multirotor madness, the first maiden I did on my hexa was by...

Yes Matt Gerdes is a good friend of mine and we both work for the same company. Liv is a friend as well. Great folks. I thought that photo I used (http://base-book.com/pdf/preview.htm) for the inside cover was shot by a real heli until I randomly checked out your profile and saw the making of...

I took photos of my wiring job so ill post a how-to once my nex5n arrives tomorrow (and I'll let ya know Yuri) if Mombasa doesn't beat me to it. Just realized he's the guy that took photos of my friends base jumping ... One of which I used for the cover of The Great Book of Base that I laid...

What do you guys think the current draw is on this small HDMI converter? I want to power it from my ImmersionRC Tx but it maxes at 5V 300mA.

Good news. So we can run the gimbal servos and the skyline rsgs off of the cc BEC at 6.5v. Should be enough amps there I imagine.

Yuri, I'll let you try it with 6.5v first ;-)

    Sony Nex-5n - downlink

Solder straight to the 5V pin on the USB socket, or make a power->USB cable, but that's just added weight. I'll be powering mine from the 5v coming out of my ImmersionRC 600mW Tx. I'll put up a more detailed tutorial on building it out as I do it. There's written details here...

You might want to remind them about that ASAP or they are going to be getting a lot of pissed of customers and repairs when they plug up more than 6v and fry their long awaited RSGS. I know I'd be one if I hadn't read this thread as my CC bEC is set for 6.5 v for my av130 servos.

You mentioned earlier in this thread the max voltage was now 6V, but the site still says: Power - Operates on a wide range of input voltages (4V – 7.2V) Was this fixed so they can take 7.2v or has the site not been updated?
