To Coax or not to Coax

redundancy, but i believe a standard octo would also handle redundancy ? heres my tests, Y6 1 and 2 props missing, it worked OK, but i completely removed the props, on a coax, as stated by bowley, if its a lower motor cutting out, it will free spin and greatly reduce the thrust available from...

the idea I am playing with right now is...instead of doing the motor tilt at the palms....is to do it at the elbows. .... that could look quite cool/realistic....but a servo that is strong enough may be the issue. .....thinking a 5:1 gear ratio may work to really up the game would be to have...

yea, you know it :D found this photo, its perfect. going to wait untill next monday when back at work and print it on about 4 A3 pages, then glue to some corroflute, 12mm pine frameing and two tilt mechs will mount the motors at the end of the fingers, tilting along the line that the arms...

    SPAZZY - a new type of Bi-copter

ok, last video i promise, for a while, on bicopters very happy, and need to wait for some new servos (these ones are getting clicky), and refine the frame. the top servo needs a diferent gear ratio as its running out of travel, and will be even worse when yaw control is introduced.

    SPAZZY - a new type of Bi-copter

Quads and other multis essentially shift their centre of thrust horizontally across the frame, bu speeding up/slowing down motors bicopters shift the centre of thrust horizontally in Roll, by speeding up one side and slowing down the other BUT pitch control is done by rotating the...

i have many, many challenges, but this would be a cool one to do :) maybe dont need the feet, just two motors on the hands, like a big bi-copter

if you used 4tilt motors, from my stinger, and mounted on hands / feet you could do a fairly realistic ironman! it would hover standing up, then tilt it forward 60 deg and fly it like a big PBF Sent from my GT-I9300T using Tapatalk 2

4S adds about 78% more power :) (its a square law, double voltage = 4 time power)

thanks Chris - its a sickness, once an idea pops into the head, it needs to be realised

imagine if the tricopter had not been invented

and i gave you 3 motors and 1 servo what would you build ? probably not this ! i built it, because it was in my head to be done was it sucessfull ? well it does fly will it continue - no ? its a piece of crap :)

Contest design idea for Spring, 2013 (S. Hemisphere, Fall)

how about OVER-UNDER-THRU flight vid must incorperate all three ? or OVER-UNDER-AROUND and THRU (sound like tieing shoe laces :) maybe the vid should also include a flyby of the pilot ?

Contest design idea for Spring, 2013 (S. Hemisphere, Fall)

just a thought. don't make it too onerous to enter ( have to set up lots of stuff to complete task) try and use what's naturally available. popping balloons would be ok another easy one would be to throw a pillow case at each end and require touch in goes as part of the course. requiring too...

it hot, windy and muggy here today, an interesting combination well i can never let stuff alone.... found the archillies heel tonite. shortened the vertical height to 180mm between pivots and a nasty side effect of the yaw and pitch interacting turned up. thinking back I had seen a mellow...
