    Hoverfly Something Big?

Hoverfly "Livesky" tethered multicopter. It's not just a flying polecam but IT'S NOT A UAV and wont be subject to the regulations. Well done Hoverfly for thinking outside the square! It will make the tethered helium balloon cams redundant. Do we know what altitude it will hover (for...

Prop choice - APC or change to Xoar (or any other rigid props)

My quad was under-powered with the Xoar 11x4's... nice and quiet but under-powered. I changed them to HK APC clone 11x6 narrow blades and it rocked. Xoars are nice but they are very narrow. I think you need to up-size the numbers if going from APC 12x3.8 to Xoars but the 12x3.8 wide blades...

    Alternative to Tiger MN4014-11?

Lanzair - your comments about about build specs are spot on. I believe DW may have been selling machines that simply don't stack up to the numbers promised, requiring immediate upgrade. My mate detailed his needs but the what was supplied simply wasn't up to the job safely. Quinton - I...

    Alternative to Tiger MN4014-11?

Thanks Quinton. I am very interested in the prop comparison between the Xoars and the Tigers as that is exactly where we are... including the 410mm booms. I do suspect the 400Kv 3515-15 will make a big difference too. I guess my friend has ended up buying a DW with a DW recommended setup...

    Alternative to Tiger MN4014-11?

This request is because... a friend bought a DW SJ6 Ti lite with these motors at Droidworx NZ recommendation. He stated his payload requirements and was sent: DW SJ6 Ti (not sure of booms but they are less than 500mm) AV200 2 x 6S6000 batts MN4014-11 330Kv motors 14" props This...

    I love you guys!

Hey Bartman It's good to be part of a forum that (thanks at times to the admins) keeps a friendly and helpful approach without the clutter/b.s that I see at rcg. Keep it up :nevreness: Pete

NZ Auckland, Any experienced multicopter hobbists/pilots?

Dan I finally get time to type while watching us lose the yachting... I'm not sure how much r/c experience you have but the learning curve is big. Many here have started from scratch... I started with 25 years of r/c under me... and I'm a techie by trade. No matter what your background...

Battery Question - Parallel vs large battery

They should be almost even - you have a problem somewhere because what you have is definitely not normal. I suspect one of your batteries is not as healthy as the other. Every model with parallel batteries I've used/seen the difference between the two were less than 5% Pete

NZ Auckland, Any experienced multicopter hobbists/pilots?

Hey... that's me :) Welcome. There are a few of us on the forum from NZ. Stacky (an Aucklander but still relatively normal) jumps on here often. I don't fly models commercially any more as CAA really do require people to have "authorization"... just google it in NZ and start reading. I only...

DIY or not DIY, that is the question :)

I guess I'm lucky that I have been flying rc planes for 25y, helis for 7 and electrics for 10 years... and being a techie helps ;) I have built 20 multi in the last 3 years for fun, AP and trainers for others and only one was a full kit (Droidworx). Rustys's frames are great and cheap that...

    Photohigher - Halo 8 and Halo 2000

While the new gear does look nice Photohigher, your reputation here isn't't great after many bought your rsgs lemon that you refuse to make work reliably well... without causing my PC to crash... basically I'm embarrassed as a Kiwi that you have chosen this no-support sales technique... Pete

New Zealand is where im at~

Josh I hear and see many getting into aerial photography and video in NZ. Any aerial ops where you are trying to make $$$ has you flying under the NZ CAA UAS guidelines... which are changing and under continuous development. I have been shooting part-time AP for nearly 7 years but I only...

19 year old killed by his RC Helicopter in NY

When I was flying AP with a Trex600 (for 5 years) I was trying to drum up business when a building engineer said "there is no way that the heli will be over his construction site". I thought he was being a bit dramatic.... then I only flew multis for a year. The day I decided to take my...
