    Y6 Config Suggestions

Well here it is! Flying here yesterday on 3S 4000mAh sans payload or FPV: Today it flew with 4S 10000mAh and full payload. Lots of fun to fly! Haven't tuned anything at all, so that is next. I can already tell this guy is going to be very useful. As you can see it's still very much in...

would a giant quad suffice (biased toward endurance with minimum/no redundancy) or do you have a configuration in mind? what are your priorities between stability in wind, flight time, cost, portability (if so, within what dimensions or what type of transport), and redundancy/fault tolerance...

Yes - that rail system only needs 4 bolt points for the thumb screws, so you should be able to adapt it somehow. If you check my Y6 thread I have the Electrohub Y6 kit on the way which includes the new rail system. Good to hear you're close! Looking forward to seeing some pictures/video.

    Y6 Config Suggestions

Here's one for you guys - I know per ecalc this guy will be OK with the 804g battery (HK had a crazy deal on MultiStar 4S 10000mAh... flight time!). But do you think I will want to use extended arms to make it stable? By default an Electrohub ends up equivalent to about 400mm. the battery will...

    Some help for DIY project!

@frCake the best platform by far for what you want to do is APM. Two options you have for control are: A more typical consumer-style flight controller to run APM (the standard one is Pixhawk) connected to a small single-board computer (BeagleBone Black, Raspberry Pi, Odroid) via its telemetry...

from PowerPole Instructions So, on a 6S multirotor something else is going to fail long before one of these connectors, if amps are the issue The antispark thing does interest me, but for me it's not something I'd switch connectors for. I guess you could stagger APP's or something? Either...

One prop, two chunks of GPS mast so far!

:D yes indeed! Not sure why that is so offensive to people either when that is pointed out. It's sort of par for the course in product development and it wouldn't make sense at all for them to greenfield something that is well established unless they have a VERY significant design innovation...

    Creating a Voice Controlled Tx???

If you're using a Tx that runs OpenTX you'll have a much easier time on that front.

hey @sledge57! I should have it together pretty quickly for you guys to check out (hopefully some video too; burned up a B&H gift card on a GoPro 4 Black). The tricopter we fly is essentially the same config 3 motors shy and obviously with a simpler FPV setup: If you do go with a "real"...

I'm curious if you considered converting your rcexplorer V3 into a Y6. I thought about it (and posted on his forum), but ended up with an Electrohub since it's already set up to mount a 3-axis gimbal. They are really neat, though. Yes, gimbal tuning can be a lot of work if you get a...

Here's what I ended up with in case this interests anyone: FliteTest Y6 Kit SunnySky X2212 980kv ZTW Spider 30A APC 9x4.5 and 10x4.5 props to try both (all 9", all 10", 10" on bottom and 9" on top, etc.) and interchange with tricopter MultiStar 4S 10000mAh battery RCTimer Fixhawk with...

Hey @kilozulu! I've got a tri and am building a Y6 for gimbal duty right now too! What gimbal did you end up with, the Fortis front mount one? What sort of configs/flight times? Cheers.

    Y6 Config Suggestions

yeah they are great. I've got all the parts on the way save for props and batteries. So I'm locked into SunnySky X2212 980kv. What props will depend on 3S vs. 4S, I guess. Maybe nobody builds things this size these days? Either big lifters or racing quads (or they buy RTF)? 380-400mm has been a...

Right - I see, "We are a family business based in the North of England." Yeah, somehow I missed that, I've been looking at a lot of stuff. They are neat frames. No, I really don't want to spend that much, so I was trying to see if any of them made a smaller version. Maybe the RC-drones guy will...

This CarbonCore appears US-made (???), it sure would be neat to do one more on the order of 450mm for small gimbal duty. Folds nicely. Does this company still exist? I emailed the rc-drones site to see if someone responds.

    Y6 Config Suggestions

Thanks, I'll poke around. I think the mini quad craze has distracted everyone! There is also the 3DR Y6 kit, but all I'd want is the frame plates, then to use either wood or CF for the arms. What do you think about the flight time? Where is the sweet spot for motor/prop/batt on these relatively...

    Torque Screwdriver Recommendations

ended up with a Wiha (5-10in-lb, so I may get the next one as well). One funny thing is you need an adapter to use 1/4" bits. For the bits I got these. I have nice Bondhus hex drivers but it will be good to have the bits for general use.
