Looking to start building multi-rotors from Long Island NY

The OpenPilot wiki has some good general info about starting out. The new CC3D should be released very soon so you should be able to snag one if you keep an eye on the News forum.

    13" xoar props...

eCalc :) - the answer will depend on AUW, batteries, etc.

New Turnigy Fast Response Multirotor ESC`s

Sure Timecop is intelligent but... let's just say not all his output is "original work". He's also one of the most obnoxious, disruptive, vindictive, poisonous trouble-makers you'll ever encounter. If he ever turns up here we're doomed.

Swiss Anemometer: Skywatch Eole - V. NICE

I have one, too - unfortunately I had it on a lighting standing and a gust of wind blew it over... ouch! the twiddly bit on the top snapped off on its "axle" - now I can't get any response from anybody on a price for repair :(

Photo Higher HERO series camera gimbals

...or even had a job, or paid a mortgage, or put three kids through school, or shaved ;)

    Which ESC it is?

You need to identify the processor on there - the SimonK only works with certain types (I'm not familiar with the subject, but I'm sure that info is easy to find).

    Radian stabilizers

I'm sceptical about the Zenmuse's start-up dance - Denny thinks it is an auto-tuning routine but I don't buy it: if so, how come all the "you can't use anything but this camera with this lens" nonsense? I'm not expecting Tabb to give away any trade secrets about the Radian, but I'm hoping he...

    DJI Zenmuse gimbal for Gopro

Personally I don't see the point. The GoPro is an "action camera" with a fisheye lens so it can be bolted to a helmet, the front of a kayak, etc. - all that "Red Bull" stuff that it does so well. It's been picked up by the TV industry and gets used on Mythbusters, Dirty Jobs, etc. 'cos it's...

    Radian stabilizers

This is the justifications, to my mind, for a dedicated gimbal controller - the fact that you can run completely different settings for the camera versus the aircraft. But the residual roll you refered to in that thread is what I was referring to above - the MEMS gyro is itself sensitive to...

    Radian stabilizers

Agreed, Andy, that we can't expect Cineflex level of behaviour. The root cause of the horizon issue is the level of MEMS sensors used in these stabilzation systems - they are, by nature, affected by linear acceleration. The Cineflexes of this world use a different type (and price) of gyro that...

Hoverfly Horizon off level after curved turns/banked turns

That's true - my bad - all days are the same to me: work, work, work! :)

Hoverfly Horizon off level after curved turns/banked turns

Mmmm.... well they don't seem very keen to address this question :cold:

    Radian stabilizers

Agreed - it should be a law ;) - and compulsory also to fly at a beach looking out to sea so we have a nice flat horizon and can see if it drifts on the roll axis :)

Not happy with my still pictures, how can I do better?

DxO Optics Pro won't help - it doesn't "understand" the GoPro (but then neither do I ;)) - if you want to do real estate I'd recommend a better camera, something without a fisheye lens! At least a s/h Canon S90 or S/95, a s/h Panasonic LX3 or 5, a Sony NEX5, etc.

    Multirotor Pylon Racing

For the sake of our American members, "cricket" is a brutally violent game, played by men in garishly-coloured uniforms, involving trying to hit members of the other team with a hard ball. ;)

    Hoverfly X8 setup

Just about any top/bottom combo will fly - it's in the nature of the FC to allow for all sorts of imbalances and discrepancies. The oft-quoted "loss of efficiency" means you will get slightly shorter flight times with a coax versus the same components arranged in a flat layout. This "loss of...

How to calculate MTOM (maximum take off mass)

The Torxpower motors are similar to the Tigers I've selected on the attached. On this basis your MTOM would be 7059g (5700 + 1359) - the mass at which eCalc calculates that you'd need 70% throttle to hover (the safe limit in order to retain headroom for control). However, I'd say that the figure...

    Hoverfly X8 setup

Higher pitch props on the bottom is the usual approach. I run 14x4 on top and 14x5 on the bottom.

    S800 alternative props

That could be overload or it could be a memory leak that's fed by performing that particular operation - I'd suspect the latter.

Aeronavics / Droidworx Droidworx AD-3 Specs vs. eCalc

Remember, too, that eCalc only claims to be accurate +/-15% (as one would expect for a straight mathematical calculation when there are so many real-world variables).
